  • Fully Multicoated Optics
  • Wide-Angle Viewing
  • Center Focus Wheel
  • Waterproof/Fogproof Construction
  • Twist-Up Eyecups
  • Rubber Armored Housing

The 10x42 Diamondback Binocular from Vortex excels in the field thanks to its exceptionally wide 6.5 degree viewing angle and 16mm eye relief, making this handheld optic ideal for hunting and birding. It also offers modern advantages such as textured rubber armor, soft helicoid eyecups, and argon gas purging.  The Diamondback series features sculpted contours that fit easily in-hand. This all-purpose binocular is for those who prefer higher magnification for distant objects. Additionally, the 5 foot minimum focus distance enables close-up observation of butterflies and other natural beauties within your field of view.

Phase corrected roof prisms render bright images that are color-faithful and rich in detail.
Fully multicoated optics transmit contrast-rich images with minimal glare and internal reflection.
Argon purged and o-ring sealed housing delivers superior waterproof and fogproof protection from the elements.
Close focuses to under 5 feet, excellent for birding and other nature observations.
Twist-up multi-position rubber eyecups provide enhanced comfort, especially for eyeglass wearers.
Ridged rubber armoring results in superior grip even in wet conditions.

Comments about Vortex 10x42 Diamondback Binocular:

I use these for hunting and am really impressed with the quality for the price. I don't like the way the bottom lens covers are attached, as they can easily slip off and be lost.

Comments about Vortex 10x42 Diamondback Binocular:

I've had a few lower cost binoculars, I won't name the brand, but the focus knob keeps falling off. I've gone thru 3 pairs of them. I wanted something of a better quality. I GOT IT! After reading the reviews for these, the worst complaint was; they are too heavy. I would just say they're just right. They don't look or feel like a "toy" and made out of plastic. Some time and effort was put into the design and it shows. I have only used them in full daylight so far, but the image is clear and crisp. No aberrations. I will be using them for the upcoming air show season and can't wait to see how they do. Even with short ownership, I would recommend these to anyone!

Comments about Vortex 10x42 Diamondback Binocular:

Ordered these as an alternative to the much more expensive Vortex Vipers. I am very happy with the quality of these binoculars. They gather light very well, and the rubberized coating is easy to hold gloves or bare handed. The focusing control is well positioned and easily turned without being too free so as to not get accurate focusing. I was pleasantly surprised to see the binoculars HAVE dioptric adjustment on the right eye. The specifications said "Not Specified by Manufacturer" so I assumed it would not have that feature. Bonus! (It also has Interpupillary Adjustment - I assumed it would, and does, also listed as "not specified" in the spec's) The binoculars are also lighter than I expected (even though I read the spec's - 31 oz's it doesn't feel like nearly 2 pounds) However, they are heavy enough to allow you to hold them steady.

The case is a "sturdy" soft case and adequately built but it does not look waterproof. But I imagine it would shed light rain for a short period of time.

The only thing that I have noticed as a negative (and its not a big deal to me) is that when viewing objects with snow behind them there is a slight green cast around the object. (Chromatic Aberration) I noticed this when viewing a bird sitting in the snow and tested it on several other high contrast items around my yard with snow as the back drop. I only bring this up if you are concerned about super accurate color (bird watching). This may put you off a bit. My intended use is for targeting and locating not accurate watching so its not a concern for my use.

In short very happy with this purchase and as always B&H you guys are awesome!

Comments about Vortex 10x42 Diamondback Binocular:

Very happy so far with these new binoculars. I like them better than my old 8x42s in places where I'm looking across a river or lake, and they're waterproof, which will be an advantage in my high-humidity location. My old binocs are growing mold on the optics.
