Comments about Acratech Quick Release Leveling Base:

I am using this tripod head with a large format camera, and also a medium format camera. This set-up is simple and fast, and keeps the overall height much lower than with a leveling base + ball head. It is very good for basic landscapes. To use, position the tripod and get the tripod approximately level. Then loosen the quick release friction knob a bit and do a final leveling while watching the bubble level on the quick release. Tighten the friction knob. Mount the camera and shoot. The fit and finish is very good.
