Does everything that it was supposed to do and at a very low price. HDMI was a tricky set-up. The HDMI is set to off when received, so you must turn it "ON" through the Set-up Menu. Which means you must run a separate video cable,(RCA cable), to the TV to see the Set-up Menu's on your screen so you can then set HDMI to "ON" and then switch to the HDMI cable. I ended up running both cables, viewing the Set-up on the RCA cable link (480i analog) 1st, to turn on the HDMI, then switched the TV to HDMI for 1080p. I'm leaving the RCA cable plugged in, just in case of a system reset due to unforeseen circumstances, such as a power outage.

Because of On Demand I rarely watch dvds, but I like to have one anyway. I went to use my COBY DVD288 player for perhaps the fifth time in 10 months last week--its broken. Doesn't respond to anything.
I live alone, have no messy or rambunctious pets, and can't think of any reason that it should have spontaneously broken. This is the second Coby player I've had that's done this.
I recommend spending the extra $5 and going for a sony.

Comments about Coby DVD288 DVD Player (Black):
Inexpensive HDMI capable DVD player. Does not include HDMI cable. If the sound skips every twenty seconds or so, try another HDMI cable -the new cable I purchased for the DVD player was defective. DVD player works as advertised.

Use the player connected to older projector with no problems, via S-Video cable - one of few DVD players found that offered S-Video. No problems - fine device for the price.

Comments about Coby DVD288 DVD Player (Black):
I was weary of buying Coby because their prices were so affordable that I had the you get what you pay for mentality. After knowing people that had Coby DVD players that lastest longer then my expensive brand one I decided to give it a try, and I am so happy I did. I highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a DVD player.
