Product Highlights
  • Provides Even Lighting
  • For Front Lens Diameter of 4" (10.16 cm)
  • Works Off of Your Hot Shoe Flash

The ExpoImaging Ray Flash Ring Flash Adapter is a unique flash adapter that will convert your hot shoe flash unit into a ring light flash. It simply slips over the front of the flash unit, and will fit any lens with a front diameter of no more than 4" (10.16 cm). It will replicate the lighting effect produced by traditional, expensive, and heavy powered studio ring flash units.

The light distribution is accomplished through a sophisticated system of internal prisms, reflectors and light-shapers designed to distribute and project the light evenly around the lens. Because the Ring Flash Adapter relies on the hot-shoe flash to generate its light, it contains no electronics, no flash tubes and requires no cumbersome cables. And in addition, TTL operation works exactly the same as with the flash itself.

The Ray Flash Ring Flash Adapter is ideally suited for fashion, wedding, portrait, journalist and macro photography as either a main or fill-in light.

The Ray Flash Ring Flash Adapter is compatible with:
Canon 580EX used with EOS 1D-Series, 1Ds-Series & 1v Cameras

Minimal light loss from the flash's standard output
Does not affect flash's color temperature
Requires no modifications to flash unit
For Canon 580EX used with EOS 1D-Series, 1Ds-Series & 1v Cameras

Comments about ExpoImaging Ray Flash Ring Flash Adapter for Canon 580EX used with EOS 1D-Series, 1Ds-Series & 1V Cameras:

I shoot mostly sports but wanted a ring flash for some portrait work with my sons and friends so I tried this flash. The weight of it hanging out front put so much strain on the hotshoe on my camera it bent it open and the flash would not work unless I held it up in the front so I sent it back. I had to fix the hot shoe on my 1D Mark III because the rear pins on the falsh would not connect.
I will not tell anyone to buy this.

Comments about ExpoImaging Ray Flash Ring Flash Adapter for Canon 580EX used with EOS 1D-Series, 1Ds-Series & 1V Cameras:

Best use when included with E-TTL for situations where you can't take time to meter, and don't want harsh on-axis lighting.

On the plus, It produces really great catchlights.
On the minus, it doesn't allow the flash and camera's E-TTL to work perfectly. A + compensation on the flash is required, and it isn't always consistent (must chimp to validate results)
