International Orders*The PocketWizard FlexTT5 Transceiver Radio Slave is part of an ultra-versatile radio slave system, and is dedicated specifically to the Nikon i-TTL flash control system. It simply slides directly into the camera's hot shoe, and there are no special settings to make or modes to call up. Use the camera, on-camera flash, or flash commander controls for flash compensation, zone and ratio control. It supports single or multiple dedicated flash units.
The FlexTT5 is the ideal addition to any Nikon i-TTL flash system. Since this system works on digital radio technology, it can support i-TTL operation around corners, out-of-sight, or in bright sunlight.
The FlexTT5 is a "Transceiver", meaning it can be used either as a transmitter placed into the camera's hot shoe, in combination with another FlexTT5 unit on the flash end, or as a receiver, with a MiniTT1 transmitter-only unit placed on the camera's hot shoe.

Please follow the instructions out of the box and I think you will find that you have bought what you were expecting. A reliable, solid radio slave for your lighting needs. I don't use these to fire cameras although, just lighting for the moment. My first shoot went very very well. Not once did I have to stop and tinker with the pocketwizards, they just worked.
I am one to measure the success of a design by the simplicity of it's function and use, and this PW gets high marks from me. It's form is a little clunky on top of the camera and under the speedlight, something I'm sure they could improve upon if inclined to do so. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 star.
Regardless, I unboxed them (3 units), hooked them up to my laptop to check for firmware updates, and then attached them to my camera and speedlights and proceeded with my shoot. No issues at all. With regards to durability we'll find out, but I've heard good things so I'm hopeful in that case. Definitely recommend.

I found these to be very difficult. I am a professional and know what I am doing. I am using a D3s and sb 900's off camera. These things work half the time. You have to turn the equipment on in a certain order, and if you make any changes in camera or on the flash, you have to go through the whole process again. They are great in theory, I just expected pocket wizard to make them more user friendly and reliable before releasing them on the market. Unless there is a firmware upgrade soon I will be getting rid of mine. And I know several other professionals in the same boat. I really do not understand how they got such good ratings by so many others.

I will use this for remote firing of strobes, with support for TTL exposure metering. The product is relibable. However - the shoe mount is plastic and uses a spinner lock. For a pro-class device, i'd expect a metal foot with a flip lock as is standard on quality Speedlight. Also, beware the size of the unit may make it a challenge to mount on speedring brackets without using a cable.

I use the FlexTT5 with two others either taking formals and/or the reception. These prove excellent when I don't have line of sight and when the reception is really dark.

The idea is fantastic, when it works it is a really handy tool for any photographer. I use mine on a Nikon D3X, wiht two off camers SB910, and when it works, it is brilliant. However, it keeps stopping to work, then I have to shut down all the equipment and restart it. It is the Windows 98 of speed light systems..and it makes you look like a right idiot when your flashes wont fire. "Ok everyone, hold that position, I gotta fiddle a bit here....".

Having a radio trigger with iTTL capability is very useful when you are pressed for time. This becomes especially useful with the AC3 zone controller mounted on top which gives you either iTTL control, full manual control, or on/off of up to three zones at the flick of a switch. Range is great and so far very reliable. Planning on buying more units for additional flashes. I like that it uses AA batteries since I have a bunch of these on hand for speedlights. Flash and remote camera triggering ports are an added bonus. Since this carries the iTTL signal, it can be used with select powerpack and monolight modules for control of your studio lights. I'm not sure I could ask much more from this unit.

I was able to just plug in to use Nikon CLS with all my Speedlights and my SU-800, but finally forget about having my Speedlights out of range, or in line of sight. The FlexTT5 units I purchased have worked flawlessly in studio, event, and architectural work.

I use these to HypeSynch with my PocketWizard Plus III units. Works great. It is a little tricky to get the preferences set up but once you figure that out it works great! PocketWizard has been great about answering technical questions.

WOrks first time every time! I would say this though, once you get it home attach it to your computer and make sure it's firm ware is up to date to work with your camera. Along with the Flex TT1 and a AC3 zone controler you do not have to go back to the flash to adjust the light output from the flash, you do it all from the camera position! I give it 2 thumbs up, would give it more thumbs up but only have 2. LOL

Bought the Flex to increase my sync speed to studio strobes. Everything worked as advertised, but was only able to increase the shutter to 1/800th while using a PlusIII as a receiver. I realize the receiver is limiting factor here but was hoping for a little more. Overall I am impressed with the Flex but beware that all the setup for the Flex it at the PC.

Works fantastic. I've only done some testing with it but can't wait to use it in the field. My only complaint is that it seems very fragile on the casing and screw hole. I'll just have to be very careful.

I'm using this on my Nikon D800 to transmit to Pocket Wizard IIIs. The PWIIIs trigger my studio strobes (Multiblitz). I can trigger from the camera at 1/400s and sync my strobes with out issue. All manual, but allows me to trigger at higher speeds on camera and sync to low cost pocket wizards. I meet with the folks at Pocket Wizard... discussed this configuration... they fully supported it so I bought the TT5 from B&H and all is working perfect!
