This battery grip greatly improves the handling, balance and steadiness of the E-620 when using heavier lenses such as the 18-180, 14-54, 12-60, 70-300, etc. The E-620 with grip is a rough equivalent to the E-30 without grip.
With the grip and the 18-180, the E-620 is a great tourist walkabout camera with a 10-1 lens and double the battery life.
When using the 14-42 kit lens, the grip can be quickly removed and the E-620 reverts to being exteremely compact for such uses as candids at parties.

I have found that adding this accessory to my e620 has given it better balance and has improved the auto-focus (it seems to hunt less in low light). Enjoy that with double battery capacity that that I can shoot longer. Also, didn't realise until I got it that it will run on one battery, which is handy if you need to recharge, you can keep shooting.

I agree with all the other positive reviews. Let me "focus" on its easy installation: It takes less than a minute to pull the cover off the camera battery compartment and store it in the upright. Then just slide in and screw on the new battery holder. It works with two batteries or one battery in either side of the compartment. It has a shutter button and a setting wheel for ease in vertical shooting. PLUS it just looks cool.

I had read that this battery-holder/ grip extends the shooting life of the E620, so I thought I'd take the chance and buy one. I was very pleasantly surprised by the build quality (which matches the E620 perfectly) and the battery capacity. With this grip, the camera has double the batteries (2), but it enables me to shoot for longer than if I were to use 2 individual batteries in succession. The grip also has a vertical shutter (great for portraits), and adds a heft that is very welcome for longer shooting engagements. I highly recommend it! Plus, it looks really cool on the E620 with 12-60SWD lens!

This battery holder improves a lot my E620 usage. With the added grip, the result in carrying my unit enabled stability. The vertical grip is very useful and adds a comfortable feel when shotting vertical. It is also light weight and its aerodynamic construction does not add so much weight. It still makes E620 the lightest DSLR. The compact design secures the battery totally. You should buy this accessory and add this if ever you have an e620.

I love the OLHLD5 for my Olympus E-620. I've been able to shoot longer and faster (that's what she said!) with this li'l guy attached. Very simple to use and provides a nice heft and balance to the overall feel of the camera. I also like having a shutter buttom on the unit so that when I flip to portrait, I don't have to awkwardly find the button on the camera.

As others have said, I've also noticed a pick up in the speed of my auto-focus, although it's nothing earth shattering.

Bottom line is this battery holder works as advertised by giving you a longer shooting life per session and an overall better feel to the camera as a whole.

this battery grip gives you all around better handling of the Olympus E-620. If you use a bigger lens, your going to need it or if you just have big hands, just buy it!

I'm currently using this grip with an E-600, and for my money it's probably the most useful accessory you can buy. For anyone with large hands, you know how challenging it can be to get a really good grip on an E-600 or E-620 - I had my doubts about how much it would change the handling, but decided to go ahead and get one anyway - and I'm amazed at the improvement. The vertical shutter release has also been a great feature and makes it much easier to reframe quickly. Easy to install (two minutes), matches the camera perfectly and feels great - pick one up!

Just got this grip yesterday for my E-600 and it works just fine. My hands were really cramped on the body without it. It was welcome relief to let my fingers have a bit more real estate to enjoy. I have one gripe. Olympus should have put an AEL/AFL button on the grip. This omission cost them a star. Overall very pleased.

Much better build than non-OEM brands. Added dial for use in portrait mode. Makes it more comfortable to hold in portrait mode. Rugged construction, allows use of two batteries, and allows use of the Olympus GS3 hand strap. Keeps the tripod mount in the correct spot. Can't think of anything negative about it.

I bought this for use on my E-620 and it works like a charm. The ability to double the shooting time is great. Three great things about it are, that you can lock the shutter release so it will not take a picture when you do not want it to. Second, it gives me a more comfortable grip and thirdly, it will store the battery cover. I would buy it again in a heartbeat.
