The Tiffen 46mm UV Haze 1 Filter is a general use, clear filter that helps to absorb ultraviolet light and reduce the bluish cast of daylight. This filter is especially useful when photographing at high altitudes or around bodies of water. No additional coloration or contrast is provided, allowing you to pair this filter with others.
The UV filter is also useful as a general protective filter to leave on lenses at all times. Filters help to reduce dust and moisture from reaching your lens element and provide additional protection in case of drops or situations where scratching could occur.
Tiffen filters are made using ColorCore technology; a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass, grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, then mounting to precision metal rings.

I've been doing photography for 37 years and this particular filter is one of the few that I've come across that does a remarkable job cutting haze and UV cloudiness down to size. It's mounted on a Panasonic Lumix FZ-35 superzoom ("bridge") digital camera as the "always-on" 46mm filter for both haze and protection. The only concern I had is light falloff, but the digital format automatically compensates for that. For low-light situations, it's not needed and I'd remove it. It fits the camera well and doesn't interfere with the lens retraction.Great gear and a great price. [...]

I definetly suggest this item for your camera to cover the lens surface.
But, you shouldn't expect a difference for recording quality.

Comments about Tiffen 46mm UV Haze 1 Filter:
I bought this filter to protect my camera lens, probably that was not the right decision. All in-door and out-door photos taken in normal light are great. When I tried this in low-light condition and all these photos have cirular spots everywhere.
Bottom line this filter is great for normal light, not recommended for low-light conditions.
