Exceptional sharpness, near-invisible grain, and bright saturated (but not garish) colors. I had happily settled on several other color negative films as my standards--Fuji 160S and 400H, and both speeds of Portra VC's--but this film has caused me to rethink that orientation.

Ektar will not be for everyone--it's saturated, and its colors could not be called "lifelike"; it does a decent job with skin tones but is not likely to be anyone's go-to "portrait" film. But if you previously liked the saturated contrasty look of the Portra VC's or Fuji 160C, you will likely find Ektar to your liking as well.

I've gone back and forth over the years with all these films, as my taste for more, or less, saturated color has waxed and waned. Lately I'm finding I like more saturated colors as long as they aren't obnoxious.

For now, I'll stay with the two Fuji films I mentioned as my mainstays for all-around use when I'm looking for more natural and lifelike (but not limp or dull) colors in all lighting situations. I'll keep the VC portra's for when I need extra punch, especially on overcast or dull days. But I can see Ektar pushing the VC's aside for when I really want punch, in all light conditions.

Comments about Kodak 120 Ektar 100 Color Negative (Print) Film:

I still use my Hasselblad and I still like film. Use it mostly for nature and scenic and the colors are good. Photos always come out good and I don't have to photoshop to correct my inabilitys.

Sharp as a tack for scanning

Comments about Kodak 120 Ektar 100 Color Negative (Print) Film:

Run this through an old AGFA Record III for landscapes. It digitizes brilliantly, I print at 18x24 and never have a concern about grain. Colors are dead on, no fixing white balance, and detail is fabulous.

Comments about Kodak 120 Ektar 100 Color Negative (Print) Film:

I've long enjoyed the 35mm version of the film and this is just as lovely. Great way to make outdoor photos that will pop with brilliant colors. It's not the most realistic of the color films but that's not the reason you choose film always. So if you're looking for nice colors and heavier saturations then this is your film. To me it's a bit contrasty too, which can be amazing or a bummer at different times.

Using this film for landscape photography. Always used TMAX or RVP before, but, now with a hybrid workflow, finding that I prefer to use a color negative film and then convert in LR/PS to B&W. Wondeful grain structure on this EKTAR 100 film Recommended highly!

Just what the Dr ordered! I actually prefer Portra 160 as I see very little grain difference but slightly prefer the colours. To be honest, I happily use either and PP gives me my final look.

Just put through 30 Rolls for vertical aerial photography with trusty old Hasselbald 500 ELM - Great results - scanned at 3200 dpi - finest of grain - awesome color saturation - and flexible exposure range -- This is Kodak's best emulsion yet for this application - pity it does not come in 220 size -- I will be putting off going digital for supplementary aerial photography for a while yet.!! Love it.

Comments about Kodak 120 Ektar 100 Color Negative (Print) Film:

This film works best on landscapes. Water in particular looks amazing on this film. Skin tones, not so much. In fact stay away from people when using this film. Travel to a mountaintop overlooking the Mediterranean sea and bring a couple boxes of Ektar. That's where you'll create a beautiful photo.

I use this film in my college photography classes. It is very easy to load and unload from the camera and developing tanks. It produces crisp, clean images every time with no heartache.

Comments about Kodak 120 Ektar 100 Color Negative (Print) Film:

Beautiful saturation and color range. This is my first choice for color negative film. I prefer to overexpose it just slightly (maybe ISO 80). I like Velvia slightly better, but it's color slide and usually costs more to have developed.
