I bought the cannon 700F to up grade, also to use when I travel. At just over 4 Lb it's no problem for carry on with my laptop.
It's seams fast, in about 6 hours with breaks I was able to scan 221 photos of various sizes.
The hole family has used daily for 4 months and several trips so far it it's been great! we scan every thing from high resolution photos to text books.
I would buy it again and recommend it to any one.

This scanner was purchased for use of scanning negatives and slides. It does NOT do slides. The film holder does not stay secure and the accessory to place on top of the negative is cumbersome. It must be placed exactly right or it does not work. It does a great job on documents. I do not recommend this for slide and negative use.

Comments about Canon LiDE 700F Canoscan Flatbed Scanner:
I did not purchase this to scan film. The cost wasn't high and I only needed to scan images/documents. It does that very well.
I thought I may as well try out the film part because well, why not?... I couldn't even get it to work. I looked it up online and other people seem to have the same problem. I was getting frustrated and I didn't even NEED to scan film so I can't imagine how annoyed someone would be if they purchased this for the very reason of scanning film.
If you want to scan your artwork or some photos, however, then this is great. It's not huge on my desk either so I don't lose a ton of space.
Four and a half stars for image quality and ease of use.
But three stars as a whole because I feel sorry for the poor people who purchased this thinking that they could scan film.

Comments about Canon LiDE 700F Canoscan Flatbed Scanner:
I bought this 700F to replace my 4 years old LiDE 90, which works fine only the resolution is little low. The installation is easy, all included in the CD. I also checked canon website to make sure the driver and software are up to date. The scan is also easy. Photo scans are sharp, clear. I set 1200 dpi to scan my photo collections, the results are very satisfied.

Comments about Canon LiDE 700F Canoscan Flatbed Scanner:
Had for about 2 weeks now. I have a rather full office desk between holding my computer, printer, monitor, phone and scanner. My old scanner took up a lot of space, this new scanner is so small and compact and does so much more than my old clunky scanner. I like it a lot especially when compared to what I had. It's relatively fast too.

There are many good things about the unit. It is lightweight and can be carried with you. It has a hinge that allows you to scan things in a book or frame. Picture quality is great. Software allows you to crop easily and also to brighten faded fotos. Frustrations are the method of saving. I have a great deal of trouble to readily put it in the folder of my choice. There may be a way to keep this from being extremely time consuming but I have not found it. I bought this to scan pics after a death in the family. The time to scan is ok, pic is good but if I had it to do over again I would look for another unit.

Scanning documents is fast and pretty accurate, but when scanning film it places several bars on your scan which prevents an efective reproduction of your media.

Great scanner - good quality, fast, and well-designed. The software/driver isn't intuitive and took a little while to get used to, but does the job just fine. The Canon brand has yet to disappoint me!

Comments about Canon LiDE 700F Canoscan Flatbed Scanner:
I purchased this scanner for use in the classroom from funds generated by our generous PTSA (Parent, Teacher, Student Association). Thus far, we've used it to scan storyboards for student video projects and it really picks up the details. Initially, I had my students sketch their storyboards in pencil but noticed the scans came out out more boldly when they traced them in black ink.
Students have commented how streamlined it looks and I've noticed how quietly it scans.
I've experimented with scanning color images and noticed the detail and accuracy. Overall, I am pleased with this purchase.

Comments about Canon LiDE 700F Canoscan Flatbed Scanner:
The maximum scan resolution in standard mode is only 600dpi and 1200dpi in the advanced mode. For negatives the maximum resolution is 9600dpi and the scan came out great but it took seven minutes for one negative. The automatic multi-crop function sometimes blurred scans but the manual multi-crop worked well. I have a canon scanner similar to this one I bought ten years ago. This new scanner is only slightly better for photos but it's much for negatives.

I had to replace my HP Scanjet 3300C because no one wanted to make a driver for it for Vista of Mac.
I like my LiDE 700F!! My purchase was for my online college studies. I scanned 32 pages of Calculus homework (in no time at all) into one continuous PDF file. The settings screen was easy to use (math homework need not be in color at the highest resolution).
I also wanted a scanner that works with my Windows laptop and Apple MacMini. This scanner has me covered.
Looking forward to the options of scanning photos and artwork.

Comments about Canon LiDE 700F Canoscan Flatbed Scanner:
I work in graphic design/3d animation and found the scanner to work quite amazingly. There was on e problem the software disc wasn't recognized on my older computer ( although other discs work fine in that same computer) so to install the software I had to copy the info on the disc from my newer computer and had to network the install .exe files to a folder on the older computer. As for BandH what can I say I love that store [...]

my wife relies on email for her business, but neither of us type. so i scan her handwritten notes and email pdfs on her behalf. recipients really like the personal aspect. this replaced an hp product that was much less reliable, much slower, and had a much less user friendly mac interface.

As always, Canon works first time. Great scanner and simple to use. Very convenient buttons on scanner for a quick copy.
It would be nice if the E mail button would offer the choice to use Thunderbird instead of just Outlook Express.

Easy to set up and get on to what you bought it for. Scans look great and works well. I have not used the 35mm accessory - I have only used it to scan documents, which is why I bought it.

A good choice and excellent value for all-around scanning. A little bit slow on full color, but very accurate. BW scans are fast. The one-step buttons on the scanner are handy, especially for making copies and multiple-page pdf's. The setup was quick and easy, as was installing the software on my Mac.
