I do mostly solo shooting vox pop type doc work, and bought this setup for use with my EX3. In buying this system my main priorities were plate stability (notorious prob for the EX3), ease of setup, solid & smooth head and weight.

Overall, this system works well with my EX3, though there are some buggy features that keep it from a 5 star rating.

The FSB-8 head is fantastic -- good weight, smooth movement. Only concern is that the level doesn't always seem to level right.

The plate, though a HUGE improvement over the Manfrotto plates (504, 501), still gives me trouble. The length is great and adds stability, but it's attached by a single screw that has worked loose on me more than once while shooting, at once point so loose that my camera nearly came off. I also didn't love this quick release style at first (didn't always release quickly) but it's loosened up a bit through use.

The legs have been fine -- I'm still getting used to having only one latch per leg, and sometimes I've had to fight with the legs to get them to extend where I want. I've occasionally felt that they're wobblier than they should be, particularly since I don't have a lot of extra weight on my camera.

That said, I bought this package after some online research of others' experiences, and I'm not sure that I'd get something better in this price range. I've used the camera on Manfrotto setup as well as on an ancient & heavy Bogen setup. This Sachtler system wins hands down over the Manfrotto, though the heavy Bogen sticks gave me more stability if less panning smoothness.

Had a monfrotto tripod for years, then I purchased this Sachtler tripod system and it was like going from a KIA to an Audi.
Solid and smooth pan and tilts.
      Highly recommend this gem!

Comments about Sachtler 0775 FSB-8 Tripod System with Speed Lock 75 Tripod:

Here is one of my experiences in using the Sachtler FSB 8: I put a Sony PMW-200 camera on the Sachtler FSB 8 to shoot photographs and paper doucments with Tiffen's close- lense, the mentioned tripod provided very smooth pan & till movements as expected and it performed very well at the starting & stopping points, its performance has been satisfactory.

However, I was gravely surprised that one of the rubber feet of set mid-level spreader 75 was torn as shown as attached photos.

The FSB-8 is perfect for DSLR or Prosumer video cameras. You still have all the Sachtler functionality of the bigger fluid heads that work for bigger cameras.
The speed lock system on the cabon fiber tripod will have you spoiled real fast. Makes set up and shooting much easier than other tripods.
Sachtler is always worth the extra money if you have it in the budget.

Very happy with how this tripod handles. Comes with everything you need to get started: head, legs, feet, pan handle, a spreader and case. A little wobbly if you don't extend the spreader all the way, but rock solid once it's open.

As another reviewer notes, the locking handle is too long to fit under most hi hats. Aside from that, this is the perfect tripod for this price range.

We use this tripod when videotaping animal cruelty. It provides very smooth camera movement without interruption - no bumpy video or blurred pictures.

It's lightweight for lengthy distances on foot to our shoot location, yet very sturdy support for our very heavy Canon EF 800 mm lens and our Canon camera.

Comments about Sachtler 0775 FSB-8 Tripod System with Speed Lock 75 Tripod:

I'm using the tripod/head with the Sony PMW-EX1R camera, and wanted in particular a small, lightweight tripod that can travel easily, stow into a small space, has ball leveling, and a good true fluid head for pan/tilt of the camera.

The FSB-8 with the side load is a fine head for the purpose, the counterbalance works well set at '2' for the camera weight, and springback in the counterbalance is offset when the tilt drag is set to 1 (minimum drag level, as 0 = off/no drag at all). The sideload plate is excellent for video cameras, as the plate has sufficient front/back slide to adjust for camera balance. I use the quick release plate a lot as I always remove the camera from the tripod prior to adjusting tripod height.

The speed lock feature of the tripod is quite nice, makes it simple to extend/retract the legs for setup.

                      Overall I'm quite happy.

Things that could be improved: the bowl locking handle on the FSB-8 is a rather long, long enough that it would not fit under the hi-hat that I have - so I purchased a second lock handle and cut the plastic handle short enough to fit the hi-hat.

It would also be nice to have a carrying strap included with the tripod.

A hook under the ball mount for adding a stabilizing weight or tie down is missing, so I'll need to figure out how to add one to the tripod.

I have used Sachtler before and knew they were great tripods. I will be using this tripod for video production. I wanted to get a tripod that I could use with a DSLR rig but also heavier cameras that I might use in freelance gigs or might purchase some time in the future.

Got the tripod and it's one of the most beautiful things I've ever owned. Simply fantastic fluid movements with enough flexibility to handle light or heavy cameras. To boot, it's carbon fiber so it's very light--a must if you shoot by yourself. And, of course, you can extend the legs fully without ever having to bend over--one release per leg extends both sections.

This is a great tripod that I plan to use for a very long time. Definitely worth the purchase price. If you're on the fence, get it. You won't regret your purchase.

This is an excellent investment. The CF legs are awesome, especially when you have to change the heights in a hurry. I use this tripod for my Sony HVR Z7U rig that weighs about 11 lb. The FSB8 head can take upto 20 lb, but I recommend not to exceed 15 lb. Once properly balanced it gives very smooth and solid performance. I debated getting the Aluminium versus the carbon fibre legs. I am glad I spent that extra money. It is well worth the investment. I also use a Sachtler dolly and the whole setup is a charm to work with.

Comments about Sachtler 0775 FSB-8 Tripod System with Speed Lock 75 Tripod:

The Head came with the bulb light not working. I had to send it to Sachtler Service at my own cost in germany.

After using the tripod a time in the field the legs won´t slip out by themselves. You have to fix a leg with a foot and push up the tripod.

Best head movement in the business. Not crazy about the sliding mounting plate. Probably should have gone with the wedge plate one. But the head movement is incredibly smooth. And the speed lock legs are handy when running and gunning in a hurry.

I use this with a EX3 and a lens adapter - it handles a good deal of weight and has the most precise controls of any Sachtler tripod in this class. Great for small prosumer level cameras, or smaller pro cams.

I have had a couple of other tripods for video of similar weight capacity. This one was twice as expensive at least, but it is more than twice the tripod. I should have upgraded sooner. Speed Lock is a great feature as well.

I used vinten vision3 so far.
In comparison with vision3, as for this product, every adjustment is simple. And it is big charm to be light.
It became comfortable to change a frequent camera position since it bought this tripod.
