I got this roller case right before leaving for a trip to France from San Francisco. Packed with my gear: 2 bodies, 4 lenses, filters, accessories, flash units, etc., it has the best modular padded dividers and very useful pockets and zipped flat compartments in the inside cover.

Rolling it on board is a pleasure, and it fits the carry-on regulations for United. Returning on Lufthansa, where recent carry-on regulations are more restrictive (one carry on bag only, 8 kilo weight limit (18 pounds) and reduced size dimensions, I pulled out the backpack insert for carry-on and packed the roller case for checked baggage.

I carried the backpack on board, no problem and it had my 15" MacBook pro in the front pocket. In order to get the weight down, since it was now limited to 18 pounds, I put my accessory equipment (flash units, battery chargers, Etc.) in the roller bag (with TSA approved lock) after I took the backpack insert out, and zipped the roller case closed for checking it into cargo luggage.

Although I also wore a photo vest for boarding to carry a few lenses and a body that would have put the bag over the 18 pound limit, I was able to put the vest equipment back in the backpack before takeoff. So it was a great solution. All around, the best camera roller case I've seen.

Comments about Lowepro Pro Roller x100 Case:

This is my second roller bag and by far, it is the best. I carry a d7000 body, 2 lenses, 2 flashes, a video light, flash bracket, and other "goodlies" like batteries and chargers, and everything fits perfectly and safely.
Lowepro did an exceptional job of making this a very flexible unit starting with the interior panels (unlike other brands, these really keep the components securely positioned), the very flexible tripod holder, and the TSA-approved lock.
Also the balance is quite good (never had it fall over) and the stand in the back makes this quite easy to access the contents when you are changing lenses, etc.
Yes, it is not the cheapest roller bag on the market but you can't beat the quality for price.

I've finally broke down and bought a wheeled camera case because after doing 10 weddings this year, I was tired (and my assistant was tired) of lugging around two camera bags. THis has the great insert so if you can't wheel it, you can back pack it! then with the tripod ability of the handle - even more priceless.Well worth the investment

Comments about Lowepro Pro Roller x100 Case:

I recently got a Lowepro x200 Roller bag and used it on a trip to South Africa and while the bag met my need very well I found that it just barely went into the overhead ben on the flights. I had two pro bodies in it and a Nikon 80-400 a 70 -200 24-70 and a 2X and 1.4X extenders charger for both the Nikon D3x and D4 (shame on Nikon for requiring different chargers)a flash and memory cards. The x100 holds one body the 80-400, 24-70, 105 macro, 18-35 WA The flash, memory cards plus other bits and pieces. I am suprized at the amount it holds. You can forget about putting a laptop in either bag. You might get the Laptop in (asuming the right size) but no room for the AC adapter without sacraficing internal space. I thin both bags are going to work great the X100 for air travel and the X200 for the road trips, or the air trips when you just have to have the extra body along and can not risk the chargers in your checked bag.
All in all I'm very happy with both bags.

I bought this carryall for my wife and she absolutely loves it. She is starting her own photography business. It was a great gift that will see so much use it's ridiculous. The only thing I have an issue with is the lock, followed the instructions and it still didn't work. I have to figure out how to get it open now, but luckily we just locked it to itself, and not through the zippers. Great product otherwise.

        CON: Way too expensive!

Comments about Lowepro Pro Roller x100 Case:

I got two pro cameras and many lens that I just could not carry around any more, they make me less happy with my hikes and exhausting for me to shoot. When I am walking around, I just grab my xpro1 instead which I love so much but is not for serious use. This case is great, its small and compact and has great lower quality. The thing I need to clarify is that in some reviews it says it can fit 15inch laptop, but you have to know it certainly does not fit my macbook pro with retina display which I think is the most compact 15in laptop.

Comments about Lowepro Pro Roller x100 Case:

After using my X100 for a while now, I've decided it's time to write a review.

The bag was actually a little smaller than I expected but despite its smaller size, it holds everything I need... And then some!

The depth of the bag is perfect for my pro body cameras or even the 7D with a grip attached! I take short trips all around California and Nevada shooting events and have never had a problem stowing the bag in an overhead, even on smaller "prop-job" aircraft.

However... The one thing you should know about the bag is that Lowepro put so much thought into storage space that they created a bit of a problem if you are not paying attention. The lower pocket on the inside of the lid will expand to allow the packing of larger items like battery chargers and such. What I found is that when you utilize the pocket (fully expanded) you can actually make the bag too thick to fit in an overhead compartment. I think this is why some reviewers have made the comments about not fitting in domestic flight overheads. After packing the bag you should measure the thickness BEFORE heading to the airport just to make sure.

As my other primary travel bag is the Lowepro Fastpack 350, I love the zip out backpack feature of this bag! I simply get on location, zip the backpack out and use it the very same way I've use the Fastpack for years! Fantastic engineering!

The built in zipper locking system is pretty cool as well but seems a little cheap when scrolling the numbers to your combination.

The telescopic handle is reasonably well built but has a fair amount of side to side play in it. I'm not real sure I would trust mounting one of my cameras to it. I have however used it as a light stand and it worked fantastic! Even with a Speedlite Softbox kit attached...

All-in-all I love this bag and would recommend it to anyone looking for a smaller, well built roller bag.

Comments about Lowepro Pro Roller x100 Case:

This case has everything that others do not. All the gear I like to travel with fits into the case easily. I use the laptop area for a medium size collapsible reflector. The edges are well protected with plastic, and the larger wheels can roll at different angles without the case plastic rubbing on the pavement. Well padded and good, sturdy fabric. Don't know that I'd ever use the camera support on the handle, but might for a flash. The lock is a brilliant addition and long enough to put around something, to make theft difficult. I love the tilting support that allows you to work from the case without laying it on the ground, although it could be sturdier.

Comments about Lowepro Pro Roller x100 Case:

I have been using this for professional work for over a year now. I pack it to the hilt (50lbs++) and have wheeled it countless miles through New York City on over 200 assignments.

It's been a remarkable workhorse for me and is one of the best investments I have made in the past five years.

The built-in cable lock comes in handy regularly. No seams have frayed. It is very well padded. The handle is relatively strong.

Only hiccup was when I literally ran the treads off the wheels from over-use. Fortunately, the bearings pop out and you can use standard inline skate wheels.
The pop-out backpack option is nifty, but i wouldn't carry the bag full of camera equipment (lots of strain on the zippers). Does work well though if I want to use it as a 'regular' wheelie suitcase and a lightweight backpack though.

Comments about Lowepro Pro Roller x100 Case:

I read a lot of other reviews before deciding on this case. I knew I needed a smaller case for airline travel especially the more restrictive regional jets. I leave tomorrow on just such a plane so I cannot comment as yet on whether or not I get to carry the entire case onboard, but I like the feature which allows just the padded inner compartment to be removed.

The case in general holds a lot for it's apparent size. I am carrying a Canon 7D body with grip and 15-85mm lens attached. Also a Canon 70-300L lens (stands upright), a Nikon ED-50 spotting scope (angled), Olympus Tough waterproof camera, chargers for the Canon and Oly batteries, spare batteries for each as well as 4 AA's and charger, memory cards, my Garmin Nuvi GPs and dashboard base, Canon 580 EX flash with Stofen diffuser and a few other odds an ends such as cables and so on. I still could easily fit in another lens like the Canon 10-22mm and another small item or two. The case weighs in with all this gear at just a tad over 25 pounds.

The build quality and materials used in the case seem to be first rate and look as though they should last a long time. The features that the case includes are very thoughtful and seem to have been designed by and for photographers. Well done, LowePro!

Comments about Lowepro Pro Roller x100 Case:

I got two camera bodies, six lenses, two speedlights and some odds and ends into a carryon-sized case. I'm happy. I gave it four stars instead of five because it won't hold my 17-inch laptop as well, but maybe that is asking a little too much.

I'm a photo backpack user, but do not like going through airports with the bag on my back. Carrying a backpack over the shoulder with a strap is frankly heavy, considering my gate is always at the very end of the airport terminal.
So,here's a pack that I can roll and not carry, but at destination have a backpack. Since the backpack in the Pro Roller 100 is small, I have to limit the gear selection to the bare essentials.
Will fit into most luggage bins in aircraft.

My chief complaint is the lack of an all weather rain cover either built in or available as an accessory.

The size is perfect for most all small travel shoots. The take-out backpack is not the most comfortable but for short runs is great. Stows away well and rolls along the city streets with ease.
