The only way to attach the Nikon® SB900 securely and safety to an Umbrella bracket is to use a Cold Shoe adapter; the contacts of the SB900 located under the Hot shoe are very important to keep safe and healthy your gear.

Most of the cold shoe adapters I try before are made of metal, So the SB900 hot shoe contact touch the metal of the cold shoe. I consider this is a very dangerous for the flash unit.

So I found this very useful gear. Allows you to protect hot shoe contacts because has a very thin slice of plastic to protect it, also attach very securely to the bracket and the Flash.

I use it attaced to a Manfrotto ® Swivel Umbrella Adapter.

Its very cheap, safe and useful.

I bought this with a Lastolight Ezybox and found I didn't need it. The adapter that comes with the Ezybox has two sides and one fits and works with an SB 900.

Some say you don't need this if you're using an SB-900; but it's inexpensive and does perform as advertised.

I bought this because many sites led me to believe you needed this for the EzyBox, but it comes with one that fits it perfectly. You just have to know which side to slide it into.

Maybe Lastolite fixed this problem, but I have no trouble using my SB900 without this adapter - it even locks down. I also can use my SB28, but on the other end of the EZYBOX's flash mount. There are two end to the EZYBOX's flash mount, and although they look identical, one fits the 900 and one fits everything else. Also, the screw hole in this adapter is too big for the screws the EZYBOX uses to attach, so even if it was needed, it wouldn't work anyway. If your SB900 doesn't fit, turn the flash mount around and use the other side.

It's a cold shoe for the EzyBox HotShoe Softbox. It works on an SB900 with no modification necessary. What else does it need to do? Wish I'd found it before I modified my other one for the SB900.
