Very powerful flash. If you up the FEC you can take great wide angle low light photos that come out bright as day. Focus assist is more than adequate mounted on Canon 30D. I am very pleased with this purchase. The wireless remote flash works great for studio type photos. Having the ability to adjust the FEC when used as a slave really opens up the creative options. Well worth the price. Silent recharge is very fast.

It recycles quick enough, though I have not needed to use this for capturing fast action. With its pro-like features (bounce flash, adjustable ratio, built in flash slave) it has been consistent, and I know what I am getting each time. This is a great way to learn on a budget.

Comments about Nissin Di-466 Shoe Mount Digital Speedlight For Canon AF Cameras with E-TTL/E-TTLII:
I was really blown away when I opened the box to this flash. I thought I would get a product that was cheaply made. In fact this flash is very well made. I chose this flash because I wanted a backup for just in case my main flash failed. It is easy to control from the camera and it is easy to slave. However you will not be able to use it with a separate set of poppers. On a final note, the recycle time is slow, so I would not use it for fast action photography.

Have not had a chance to use it a lot since my purchase, but I found the flash controls to be easy to understand and implement. It seems to be well made (sturdy). I have practiced with it indoors and am very happy with the results. I think it is a very good choice for a starter flash.

Only had it a week and already like it, as I can adjust the TTL output, or control it manually, neither of which is possible with the Canon 420 EX that cost twice as much. I used it for a portrait shoot (employees of a local business, for use in brochures, etc.) and it worked great.

Great price for a compact unit that works perfectly with my S5. I'd been jonesing for a bounce flash ever since I switched to digital. I haven't even read the instructions, and I'm sure I could be doing a lot more with it, but for now, I'm happy to be able to point-and-shoot family photos with perfect natural lighting.

at the price this is highly recommended as alternative to Canon units costing $250.
Works very well with my T2i with all functionalities available and fully controlled.
I am still learning all the tricks but very happy.
I gave it 5 stars taking price under consideration...otherwise may have given 4

Great product. I used it the first day at my house. Took photos of my new dog my daughter rescued. Photos came out fantastic. Easy to operate and a perfect fit for my older camera. Only drawback was loading the batteries. It was difficult putting the last battery in the slot. Afraid I was going to break it.But other that, the flash is great.

Comments about Nissin Di-466 Shoe Mount Digital Speedlight For Canon AF Cameras with E-TTL/E-TTLII:
I was needing a flash, didn't want to spend the money for the Canon unit. The Nissin is a surprisingly nice flash. Nicely built, recycle time is not bad, power is good. The built in diffuser works well as does the auto zoom. The only thing that would have been nice would have been manual zoom buttons. It only zooms straight on.
The slave works OK, sensor is in front which can be problematic. If you are behind the unit with the trigger flash it won't fire. I ended up using a cheap flash ($15) just to fire this unit for a couple of shots.
Overall, nice unit.

This flash is a very good value considering the features it provides. Exposure is consistent, and has been reliable. Perfect size. The only downsides to this flash is it doesn't swivel (which I knew before purchase) and the big reason I ended up returning and upgrading to the DI-622 was it wont accept radio triggers to fire. I mainly wanted fill for outdoor photos with the flash off camera and for creative lighting. On camera flash is necessary when required, but I try to avoid with fast lenses if possible. I contacted Nissin before my return, and they confirmed this model is not compatible with radio triggers. If you are unconcerned with remote firing (besides the optical slave) this flash is an excellent value. [...]

I am a freelance reporter and hobby photographer. I use the flash to shoot evening sports events and interior shots for articles. I like the flexibility and ease of use. I like that it is compatible with my camera just by sliding it on. I am not to fond of the battery need, but will adjust to that...

I have only used this a few time but is has been perfect. It has performed exactly as I have needed it to and it is quiet. The multi-positions help reduce glare and let me direct the flash where I need it. It is much better than more expensive flashes I have owned.

I could not get my 5D to recognize this flash. It would not fire every time nor did it give the same exposure even though the lighting situation was the same. I returned it thinking it was defective the second di466 had the same problem. I had updated the 5D firmware hoping for the best but no success.I liked the flash fit and finish and features and the price so I was disappointed. [...]
