Blue Crane's "Introduction to the Nikon D90" and inBrief Guide - If you have just purchased your D90, the controls on the outside of the camera, coupled with all the menus and custom settings, can be downright overwhelming. Blue Crane gives you a structure for looking at the controls, as well as a repeatable ritual for taking great photos with your camera. You spent a bundle on this camera, let it be an extension of your hands rather than a struggle.
The Nikon D90 is a powerful piece of equipment. A solid understanding of its features and controls can really unleash its potential. Once you learn how the camera's components work together, you'll have all the tools you need to capture the best image under all conditions.
All you need to take great pictures is this training DVD and about two hours, and you'll have the knowledge and confidence to create the images you want. The topics are arranged in chapters, so you can move at your own pace, and return later to individual subjects.
This item also comes with an inBrief Guide. Your camera manual covers all the functions on your new digital camera, but it's also over one hundred pages long. When you are in the field, you need quick and accurate answers to achieve the best shot. Blue Crane developed the inBrief line of camera guides so you can get the answers quickly, and more importantly, the shot you want.
Each card is divided into eight color-coded panels. If you have a question about metering or bracketing, simply look at the yellow panel. Questions about custom functions are answered on the green panel. The layout and description for the control panel and view finder can be found on the blue panel. And a color-coded index on the front page immediately points you toward the answer you need.
The inBrief guide is laminated for long life and protection from the elements. As importantly, the panels are separated by thin strips of clear lamination, allowing the card to be folded easily and stored in your camera bag.
Your inBrief guide won't be a replacement for your manual, but it will remind you what functions are available, and how you can get them to work for you.
Every inBrief guide includes a line drawing of your camera with the controls for shooting, displaying images, and general operation clearly labeled. It also has a panel that shows you, at a glance, the camera functions available for each mode dial setting, as well as a cross reference to flash sync modes.
So quit fumbling with the controls, and take control of your camera and the images you want to capture. Blue Crane will give you the answers inBrief.
Note! This DVD is region free. It was developed for new to intermediate photographers buying their first DSLR camera.

I am a graduate of the more simple point and shoot format to a new DSLR Nikon D90. I bought manuals that were helpful, however not as helpful to my learning and mastery of this more complex camera as the Blue Crane DVD and Guide.Using the DVD Guide together with printed material clarifies many of my more technical learning needs. The Introduction to the Nikon D90 has allowed me to learn at my own pace-practice using the camera and review the chapters and specific camera functions as often as I need to remember what I have learned and feel confident using this camera.
Because it is helping me master my new camera, I would recommend this teaching aide to new Nikon D90 owners who have moved up from point and shoot cameras or other formats not as advanced as the D90.

Comments about Blue Crane Digital DVD and Guide: Introduction to the Nikon D90:
My Nikon D90 manual was not with my camera purchase. I wanted an overall view of my camera, until I received my manual, and this DVD provided that. I felt this DVD was very helpful regarding the basics of the D90 and easy to follow. I'll continue referring to the DVD in addition to the manual. I'd say it's a worthwhile companion to the D90 manual.

Comments about Blue Crane Digital DVD and Guide: Introduction to the Nikon D90:
I had many many books and guides on using the d90, but seeing someone use the camera and trying it for myself made all the difference. The DVD is broken up into good chunks of information, so it is not too much all at once. I didn't watch it all the way through, but section by section until I was comfortable with the information covered. In conjunction with Ken Rockwell's guides, I am happily on my way to great photos.

Comments about Blue Crane Digital DVD and Guide: Introduction to the Nikon D90:
I have watched this DVD several times, and each time I learn something new. The narrator is excellent. There are several times when he suggests that you pause the DVD and try something he just explained. Sometimes it's helpful after I've been out shooting to then go back and find a certain topic on the DVD that applies to a question or problem I had. It's kind of like having a teacher at your disposal.
