SO.... i recently just bought a canon t1i... and hasve been doing my research, frantically looking for a GREAT yet CHEAP tripod to support my newest baby. all the other tripods that were below the price range, had average reviews.. and there would always be a couple people whose pieces would fall apart, quick release plates come off unexpectedly... and i even saw a couple where a persons SLR fell off along with the quick release plate( phew)... so i found this baby! totally perfect! not to mention it has a very adequate height when its fully extended, and is VERY compact when folded. and ITS sturdy. the ballhead quality and the build of the legs will not let you down.
IF YOURE looking for a tripod as an ameatuer or semi-pro, with an SLR, that wants someone lightweight to travel with.. GET THIS! you don't need a heavy studio tripod. this tripod feels just as sturdy. =]

Overall quite nice and well made but a little longer when collapsed than prior Slik compact model, but it does give you more height. Do not like the quick release camera plate since it must be very tight on the camera to avoid shake and is then difficult to take off and put back on the camera and therefore when not using the tripod I'm reluctant to take it off. The camera plate makes the camera unstable when on a flat surface. It does take some time to put the quick release plate on perfectly square. I would prefer to screw the ballhead on and off the camera (their old model)without worrying about the quick release camera plate, particularly since I often change to a minitripod which requires that I take the plate off.

Comments about Slik Sprint Pro II GM Tripod with Ballhead - Supports 4.5 lbs (2kg) - Gunmetal:

Very convenient to deploy. I use it with my new Nikon DF with short prime glass and my 24-85. It is usable with my 70-200 2.8 but great care must be taken and keep a low center of gravity with one of the legs front and center under the glass. Good for general shooting, landscapes, and portraits. It is much lighter than expected and fits perfect on my backpack. The only negative aspect is the black paint immediately chipped off of the quick release where it connects to the tripod and the release lever - no big deal. I also had a little trouble in high wind (20-30 mph) with movement but that is no surprise, use a bigger tripod.

Comments about Slik Sprint Pro II GM Tripod with Ballhead - Supports 4.5 lbs (2kg) - Gunmetal:

I researched the purchase and was torn between this one and a heavier more expensive one as I was afraid this one may be "too cheap". I find it sturdy and light enough that I can put it on my back with my other equipment and go. Later I can upgrade to a bigger one if my needs change and I will always have this one for travelling or hiking. The legs extend and collapse well, the ball head is easy to use and gives good range . The attachment lever seems sturdy enough. I think this is a good value for the occasional user (amateur) like me and for someone who wants a tripod that is light and packable.

Comments about Slik Sprint Pro II GM Tripod with Ballhead - Supports 4.5 lbs (2kg) - Gunmetal:

I picked this up before a bikepacking trip where I would be making a short DSLR film. Needed something small and lightweight, that I access quickly from the side of my back. It performed extremely well on that trip. The ability to remove the center column to get low to the ground is really valuable. I actually keep the center column removed, but bring it along, as I rarely find myself needing the extra height.

While I haven't had it long, thus far I'm extremely pleased with the product.

One note: keep an eye on the camera mount plate as it will loosen up over time. Just tighten it back up. Not really a problem.

This tripod is just what I've been looking for to travel with and use with my bridge camera. I like the fact that it is high enough for me (I am 5'4") to look through my viewfinder without bending over. It is very light but seems sturdy. I need to use it more before I can decide whether the ball head is sturdy enough.

I recently bought this tripod for my wife's DSLR, because I already owned one. The reason I bought a second one of these is because mine has held up to WAY more abuse than it was intended to. I use it to support a 13 lb. rifle. A small company called PRS sells this tripod with a rifle cradle because they found it to be the most rugged and lightweight for the money. Mine gets strapped to my pack wherever I go and has had many shots fired off of it, both through rifles and cameras. It has never failed me.

I needed a small travel tripod but wanted something that would still support my MarkII5D with my 24-70 lens attached. So I did what another reviewer did and changed the ballhead. I now have this easy to carry tripod with my manfrotto 498Rc4 ballhead attached. When I come home from Italy I'll switch it back. I now have two great tripods that function the way I want for 1/2 the cost. I also purchased the reducer screw that allows me to go from a 3/8 to a 1/4. I'm a 135lb woman and this setup is light enough for me to deal with easily.

This is a much sturdier tripod than I expected for its price and its size and weight. I could understand all the adjustments intuitively and can easily set it up wearing ski gloves. The padding on the upper section looks as if it can both protect the tripod from damage and prevent having to touch the metal in freezing weather. Although the ad didn't mention it, the center post can be inverted to do macro photography.

This is a nice compact tripod good for use with the new oh so light weight compact digital cameras. Very easy to carry but you'll need to be careful not to bump while shooting as it is NOT heavy duty. It does seem to be well constructed and I feel it will work well for my backpacking/hiking needs.

Lightweight and small so it is perfect for travel. Sets up quickly. Fairly stable for being so lightweight. My only complaint is that the ball head tightener does not tighten enough for the camera not to droop slightly (with Nikon d3200 and 18 - 55 lens) which is inconvenient especially for close-ups. It has an easy on an off camera mount. This tripod definitely meets my current needs and will be perfect for taking to Rome.

This tripod supports my 16 pound rifle for observation and firing from just about any position I need to be in. At first I was a little concerned about a tripod rated for 4.5 pounds holding a 16 pound rifle that costs more than most high end DSLR's. However, after seeing a 45 pound weight sitting on one of these tripods my worries went away pretty quick. It's not the most stable tripod, but it's compact, quick, light weight and fits in my drag bag nicely. Being able to go from 8" in the prone position to standing with the same tripod is also a great feature. The ball head can be a little weak if things get too out of balance, but then again it's a small ball head not made for heavy applications. Typically I leave it lightly tightened to be able to track and adjust quickly and lock it down for spotting. If you're looking for some high end, super stable tripod, this isn't it. If you're looking for something compact, light enough to carry and gets the job done (as well as doesn't make you cry too much if it falls down a hill and ends up in a pile of pieces at the bottom), this is worth looking at.

Comments about Slik Sprint Pro II GM Tripod with Ballhead - Supports 4.5 lbs (2kg) - Gunmetal:

This is by far the best tripod for travel that I have ever owned. It is light, it is incredibly sturdy and high quality, plus it's cheap! I love ballheads for travel since they're so light and compact, but this one is strong enough to hold even my heavy Yashica TLR sideways without complaint. DSLRs won't even make it sweat. Even so, if you don't like it, it's an easy swap for a larger head. This is a high quailty, versatile tripod that won't slow you down. Get it.

Comments about Slik Sprint Pro II GM Tripod with Ballhead - Supports 4.5 lbs (2kg) - Gunmetal:

This tripod is incredibly lightweight and works great with my Canon T3i and a 17mm-50mm lens. My camera and lens weigh around 2.5 lbs together. This tripod can easily support the weight. I extended it fully and there were no signs of the legs bending. The quick release is sturdy and easy to use. I am very satisfied with this tripod! The only downside I could see is in high winds, the tripod can shake a bit because of its light weight.

I use basically outdoor shooting, therefore the weight and the size matters to me. Unlike many of other tripod, Sprint Pro II GM Tripod is so light weighted and so compact it is so convenient to carry it around. It's compare to most luxurious tripod one can have.

Considering this is a well built, compact tripod at this price point, it functions perfectly. So long as you don't go over it's recommended weight requirements, this tripod is great for travel are hiking purposes. My tiniest complaint though would have to be the very end of the legs. They are built fair enough to the recommended weight but anything more I can see the end of the legs, which are the thinnest, to start to warp or bend.

Solid product overall. It does the job and is very light, which is the point of it after all. The ball head has a hard time staying in one place and so the camera likes to tilt downward. The baseplate comes loose fairly easy as well so you have to make sure to tighten them down real well. I wouldn't use this as your main tripod, but if you plan on traveling or backpacking then you should give this one at least some consideration.
