After you worked with high-end tripod, you get spoiled. I wanted a tripod that would go as high as any other 2-stage tripod, and I didn't like the locks on the new Manfrotto sticks (flimsy), Cartoni (super loud!), or the basic Sachtler models.This Vinten goes high, and the locks are just right. As the name suggest, they give you positive feedback that you're locked.Out of the box it looks unassuming, but you see it's engineered just right. No frills and lightweight (close to the weight of the carbon fiber model). Works well with our Manfrotto 509HD head.One advice - the spreader is not included. You can get a Manfrotto 165MV floor spreader which fits this Vinten just fine.
