Holds the hood-loupe in position when doing live-view and video with D90, D300s, D700, & D3s. Without this you will have to hold this to the rear of the camera (somehow) while you are manipulating the camera controls. If you have a nose like an aardvark then you don't need this; you can hold the hood-loupe on with your nose. If you don't, then you DO need this. Get it.

If you want to attach the Hoodman loupe to the back of your camera, this accessory is their solution. I found it difficult to attach and if you want to take it off and put it on fairly frequently, a pain to use. The reason is that you have to manipulate the rubber strings and pull them through a clamp.
I assume the design is this way to accommodate cameras with straps.
But, I found it to be simpler to just hold the loupe to the back and carry it on the included lanyard around my neck.

    Works with Canon G16

        Comments about Hoodman Cinema Strap:

If you cross the bands over the top of cam, even works with the tiny Canon G16. Just check to be sure the big squeezy nuts don't interfere with lens extension.Several reviews complained about price calling it just a ring with a couple of "rubber bands". Very unfair. They're not just rubber bands, seeming very substantial to me--at least as stout as my hiking boot shoelaces with a stretchy, braided, sheath.I also have a Canon 7D for which I use Houdloupe's crane. Tried it on the G16; but the loupe extends vertically downward too far for the little cam. I found a BH offering that might solve that. Haven't called them to ask yet to be sure. It's BH #HOHBST, "Hoodboost micro 4/3 adapter". It appears to mount in the hot shoe and raise the crain, mounted in it.I would prefer using the loupe with the crane because of its flip-up flexibility as opposed to the "rubber bands". We shall see if the crane will not be too cumbersome with the little G16. Actually, it should provide a better shooting "grip" with a third stabilizing hand being eye pressure against the loupe's eyecup--not to mention more mass.Convenience? Well, that's another issue. I carry the G16 in a belt pouch and always have it with me. Guess I'm going to have to get a shoulder strap for the loupe and crain, eh?

At first I was disappointed that the left strap didn't fit well on my D800, but after looking at the description on the package, I saw that you could cross the straps over the camera and lens, and that worked great! Very inexpensive but effective solution to holding the loupe in place.

              Comments about Hoodman Cinema Strap:

I like that it is a way to hold the hoodloupe on. I don't like that it is hard to always find a secure place to loop it around and one that will keep the hood loupe perfectly straight and centered at all times. My hoodloupe kept moving around and it was something I had to live with.

                Comments about Hoodman Cinema Strap:

Considering it is just rubber bands, it does hold the Hoodman in place ok. Unfortunately, that's not good enough though. It creeps and slides and the rubber bands get in the way of all the other 'stuff' I have hanging on my camera body. I am definitely buying another option to more sturdily attach the hoodman. Just not tough enough for my style of shooting.

                Comments about Hoodman Cinema Strap:

Easy to install on Hoodman, slightly awkward to install on camera. I don't shoot video much, so I really use the Hoodman as a menu/review aid. It would be nice to be able to connect the hood to the camera a little more easily and then put it away. This product seems to be designed for someone who will leave it attached to the camera for long periods. I will probably leave this in my bag and use the nect strap most of the time.

Too much extra string, bulky and impossible to get to some controls without releasing the entire thing. Not recommended

I can't knock off stars for performance as this strap certainly does the job it was intended to do, keeping my Hoodloupe in place on the rear LCD of the camera. However, given what it is made out of, this is easily twice as wexpensive as it should be. As I wanted a slightly more professional look, I decided it was worth it, but some rubber bands could easily do the same job if set up properly. Overall a good product, but just a bit too pricey, and therefore 4 stars.

                                      Comments about Hoodman Cinema Strap:

If you think paying three hundred dollars for a plastic loupe with some metal on it is crazy, you might be tempted to go this route and buy the Hoodman loupe and these Silly Strings. While, in theory, the Cinema Strap might work, the truth is that it doesn't, at least not very well. The strings get in the way, and you just can't keep the loupe from sliding off of the monitor. The eye-loupe connection is an important part of camera stabilization, and puts too much pressure on the loupe for these stretchy strings to keep it in place. Save your money and buy the loupe that starts with a "Z"

                                        Comments about Hoodman Cinema Strap:

Once in place it works fine for video or if you use live view with the DSL mirror up. A bit of a hassle to get it set up. I had to put OP/TECH camera straps with quick releases on my Nikon D5100 to make it easy to take the Hoodloupe off and on.

                                          Comments about Hoodman Cinema Strap:

I use the strap to hold my Hoodman Loupe in place just to shoot in Live View mode. Since I only shoot in Live View a few times on any shoot I gladly suffer the inconvenience of putting the loupe on and off for those times. Otherwise I keep the loupe on a neck strap or in a pocket. The Cinema Strap holds the loupe in place fairly well but even at its tightest can't hold it rock steady.

Works perfectly to hold the Hood Loupe in place while doing video with a DSLR, such as a Canon 5D Mk2. A must-have for doing video to view LCD monitor, but not really needed if you're only doing stills.

I use it to confirm all of my macro photos and most of my landscapes. Without it you cannot see your work on a sunny day. With it, it's like looking at the final print in the field.
