This Pearstone Accessory Shoe Adapter has a threaded 1/4"-20 stud on the top and a "cold" male flash shoe on the bottom. In addition, the bottom of this adapter also features a 1/4"-20 threaded female socket.
This handy little adapter allows you to mount camera accessories that only come with a 1/4"-20 socket to cameras, rigs, camera brackets, and any tripod or light stand that only feature a flash shoe. For added security, the knurled locking ring assures a tight connection to the accessory.

This items does exactly what it looks like it would. It gives you a shoe mount somewhere that you need one. In my case, I use it to mount a Zoom recorder on top of a Canon 7D DSLR on a shoulder rig. While not the most practical set up, it gives me an option for tight quarters shooting or where a boom operator is not practical.
Depending on how you use it, it may be difficult to align your gear because of the tight finger space. But, with a little care, you can do it. I was not able to get a super tight lock down on my gear, but then again, it probably was not meant for the way I use it.
It is very small, study and handy. You just need to make sure you don't lose it. I like it.

I use it for attaching a shotgun mic to my DSLR. A simple, solid attachment that keeps the mic facing forward instead of swaying to the side.

Comments about Pearstone Accessory Shoe Adapter with 1/4"-20 Stud Connector:
I bought this to attach my Ninja 2 to my camcorder as a basic accessory - it has 2 separate screws/dials to secure the unit to the hotshoe and a monitor or another accessory. The dials are easy to turn and provide a very secure grip to the base and the accessory. I wish they included a ball head as well into the unit to allow for some degree of tilting - without it, the accessory is always at right angles to the camcorder and this can be problem if your accessory is a monitor, because you would have to bend or raise for a good view.

Comments about Pearstone Accessory Shoe Adapter with 1/4"-20 Stud Connector:
For very light accessories this will do the job, barely. I'm using it to hold a Zoom H1 recorder on a DSLR and the threads seem just a tad tight. The locking ring doesn't have any sort of gripping material so it tends to loosen easily and seems a bit loose on the thread so it wobbles as you lock. For light things it will do the job just check frequently.

I use this by inserting the flat plate into hot shoe and then screwing gadgets onto the other end, that is as complicated as it gets.

Comments about Pearstone Accessory Shoe Adapter with 1/4"-20 Stud Connector:
This is a very simple, all metal, anodised adapter with three parts: the shoe mount with its threaded column, the lower screw piece to lock into the hotshoe and the upper screw piece to lock into the tripod mount.
The shoe mount and its attendant screw work fine, fitting the hotshoe well. However, the tripod mount screw piece has a design flaw. Contrary to some reports I found plenty of room between the top of my Nikon D300s and the bottom of the Tascam DR-40 I was mounting to it, so accessing the two screws to tighten them was easy. What was difficult was sufficiently tightening the upper screw against the tripod socket so that the DR-40 couldn't swivel around. The smooth, metal upper surface of the adapter doesn't lock well against the smooth plastic of the DR-40 and requires substantial tightening to ensure the DR-40 stays still.
One could blame this on the DR-40's design, but this adapters design exacerbates the problem.
Apart from that, I'm impressed with the solid build, compact size, and light weight, and I expect this to last forever. Not cheap, though.

I have a Canon DSLR and use it for video productions together with a Zoom H4N external audio recorder for optimal sound.I have always had problems placing the audio recorder in a good position or had to hold it myself together with the camera. Not optimal. With the Shoe adapter I can just mount it on top of my camera and have both sit on my tripod. Saved me a lot of hassle.
