Product Highlights
  • 750mm f/5 Achromatic Refractor
  • Manual Equatorial Mount

With a premium 6" refractor optical tube assembly and a nice, all-manual German-type equatorial mount, the Celestron Omni XLT 150 R Telescope makes for easy observing right out of the box, with the capacity for shorter or terrestrial imaging without needing any other accessories.  You can later add Celestron's optional motor drive and polar axis finder if you wish to perform long-exposure astrophotography.

As a large refractor instead of the more common reflector or catadioptric designs, the XLT 150 R has plenty of aperture to keep you duly entertained as a viewer, along with the optical capacity for serious high-contrast, wide field astrophotography.  Refractors can't visually show you the things an 8-14" Schmidt-Cassegrain or reflector can, but they can show you plenty of interest, with wider views and inky-black skies to stun.  It is a different experience.  The focuser barrel directly accepts SLR cameras with an optional T-mount for your make, and with the optional motor drive and polar axis finder you'll be able to get great results with only a minimum of experience.  Refractors are also far superior should you wish to enjoy some terrestrial viewing; just add a 45° erect image diagonal for an amazing, stationary-style spotting scope.

The XLT 150 R arrives with Celestron's classic CG-4 German-type equatorial mount, a simple and understated support which you can easily operate manually with nothing more than a star map and red flashlight.  Properly aligned and centered, you can easily trace the movement of your object of interest with just a single control as it moves along the night sky.  Everything required for immediate use is included in this package.

Extra-large 6" aspherical refractor with StarBright XLT multicoatings yields satisfying observing and pinpoint star field images rich in contrast
Built-in SLR adapter upon focuser (requires a camera-specific T-mount) for brilliant prime focus imaging
Classic, quality CG-4 manual German-type equatorial mount
Tube rings directly accept an SLR camera for piggyback, star field imaging
Finely-geared slow motion control & setting circles for quick reference
Robust steel tripod
Includes dew hood for preventing condensation & shielding stray light
Optionally-available motor drive and polar axis finderscope for long-exposure imaging

Comments about Celestron Omni XLT 150 R 6"/150mm Refractor Telescope Kit:

This telescope is optically excellent. I bought it for terrestrial use as I use a LX200 for astronomy, but did try it on planets and double stars. The 6 inch aperture allows perfect sharp viewing even with a 6 mm ocular lens on a clear night. The only complaint I really have was with the star diagonal which was poorly centered. Fortunately I had a old Meade diagonal to replace the supplied one with. For serious astronomy one will require a motor drive. Astro photography may present a problem as a refractor tends to vibrate a little, but this can easily be overcome with remote controlled shutter release.

Comments about Celestron Omni XLT 150 R 6"/150mm Refractor Telescope Kit:

I've owned this scope for a while now, and let me tell you it is actually pretty good. The diameter of this scope is close to 6 inches. I used it mainly for visual observing. When you throw in the right eyepieces, Example 35mm at 21x power for widescans, 5mm at 150x power for midrange, and 2.5mm at 300x highpower range for up close planet observing, kind of small but enough to make you happy! I also recommend getting the motor drive for this scope because it tracks the objects your looking at and learn to polar align so it can track accurately. The only bad things about this scope is that it is sightly under mounted so ccd imaging will be tough on this mount and some chromatic abberation when viewing bright objects. Other than that it is still a good scope.Things i've seen thru this scope, the moon, mercury, venus going thru its phases, mars and its ice caps, jupiter with the red spot and bands and its moons when seeing permits, saturn and its rings and moon, uranus and neptune, andromeda galaxy, triangulum galaxy, orion nebula, and so on! Recommended filters= Moon filter 25% transmission a must for the moon , Type A mars filter for mars and great for Saturn and Jupiter!Good Luck and Clear Skies!

Comments about Celestron Omni XLT 150 R 6"/150mm Refractor Telescope Kit:

I am returning this telescope because there is not much difference when compared to a Celestron to buy you before, that only cost $ 54.99 versus [$] I thought this to be much more expensive and larger would have a marked difference as there is in the price. I'm comparing a Celestron 70mm travel scope Celestron portale versus the omni-xlt-150 150mm R, the great differentiator is price, not avail eyepiece set of 5 and 7 filter to buy for this, and is not the planet as shown in the manual for this telescope. I am disappointed with the telescope but well satisfied with the service of B & H fast and professional. Thanks
