- For the Celestron C6 and C8
- For Other 6-8" Catadioptric Scopes
The Celestron Lens Shade/Dew Cap is a tube of approximately the same diameter as your telescope tube which reduces the amount of dew that builds up on the corrector plate. It also serves as a lens shade, preventing stray light from falling upon the corrector plate and thus greatly improves contrast.
This shade is manufactured of rugged, soft Foamex plastic. It can be stowed away flat after usage. Celestron employs a thicker material that won't crack as easily as other manufacturer's efforts, with sewing instead of inexpensive glue for a longer service life.

Used this on a Meade LX90 8" ACF. It fit great and the Celestron letters peeled right off. Only wish that they didn't bend it in half to package it.

The product is great itself however when used on my 6 inches the extrawarapping required makes the shape of the dewshield somewhat uneven .. with 8 diameters is perfect .

Works as advertised. The only thing that it could use is a heater (why only 4 stars) for the really humid nights, but you can purchase a heater strap that will work with it for relatively cheap.

This product works well on my Celestron C6 SCT. Although it is not clear in the picture, it does have the notch cutout for the dovetail bar. For my C6, I cut off the extra material (and velcro) meant for the C8. After I did this it kept a more circular shape and seemed to fit better. Before cutting it was a little more oval shaped, but probably still fine. I've also heard that the "Celestron" letters aren't applied very well, though that is minor (and I haven't lost any yet).

This is an excellent dew shield that lays flat for transportation and is easily attached to the telescope. Although it has a notch cut out of the telescope end for mounting around the Celestron rail, it did require cutting the material to fit a Losmandy dovetail bracket that carries the guide scope. Cutting the material; to suit my set up was relatively easy. It is a great dew shield.

A good protection for the front end of the telescope. I use this shade even for short viewing sessions, when dew is not an issue, as it keeps stray light away. It is also easy to store/transport.

I bought this product knowing it was for the bigger scopes (6SE & 8SE). I have the 5SE. I bought a strip of velcro 1 ft. long (Sticky Back)from the local fabric store and modified the cover. Took all of 5 mins. Works great. Protects my scope and fits perfectly. Couldn't make one for less from scratch. Thanks for the great service B&H Photo. We'll do business again.

This was a perfect fit for my Nexstar 6SE scope. Very easy to install and it folds flat for easy storage. Its a perfect dew cap for where I use my scope and looks like it will last very long with little care.

I bought this dew shield in an effort to do just that--shield my Celestron 6SE from dew. It's a very well made, simple product that seems to work well. As a first step toward preventing dew build up , this product is well priced and cheaper than buying a full blown heated system (I don't stay out all night so I don't seem to need the heated system). Furthermore, I build a lot of my own custom devices and products and considered making my own dew shield to save money, but quickly realize that at this price point, simply buying the Celestron shield made great sense and yielded a cheaper and better product. Highly recommended.

This dew cap works great! I used in south florida where humidity is always very high on a cold night for about 6-7 hours of star gazing, during the 12/21 lunar eclipse, I had absolutely no problems with dew collecting on my scope. As a matter of fact I had dew on all my equipment but the telescope, thanks in grand part to the dew cap.
