Comments about Seculine Twin-1 R4N Infrared Remote for Nikon and Selected Fuji DSLR Cameras:

This "remotes" all functions of the shutter button, including the half-press. It has a button lock for bulb exposures. It's small and convenient to use. I mostly use it for pet pictures where it's normal to have to "wrangle" the subject into a useful pose. The IR transmitter and receiver and sufficiently powerful/sensitive such that aiming the transmitter within a studio setting isn't necessary. If for some reason you want to use it wired, there are provisions for that too.

Installation of the receiver is a little tricky. The ring is very small and not all that easy to turn, but that sort of comes with that particular piece of territory. The receiver has two mode settings -- normal and bulb. The instructions do a poor job of explaining how to set these, but since it boots up into normal mode, that probably won't be a problem for you.

The user manual claims that the receiver power goes off and on with camera power. On my D300S, that is not true. It's on all the time, so leaving it on the camera may not be a good idea.

The transmitter uses a 23AE 12V alkaline battery. They're available for around $1.50 or so, but they're not as readily found as AAs. I have no idea how long it lasts in the transmitter since I remove it immediately after use and the original one is still working.

So far, I'm very pleased with it. It has never failed to do exactly what I wanted it to do. I especially like the relatively small size of the transmitter and the absence of the antenna that the RF remotes all have.

Comments about Seculine Twin-1 R4N Infrared Remote for Nikon and Selected Fuji DSLR Cameras:

I purchased this remote because of its wireless capabilities, It works fine when it works. The instuctions are useless, installing the receiver into the cameras 10 prong connector is difficult, Drains batteries even in the off position in the transmitter. It comes with a cable to use as a wired remote, haven't tried that yet, but defeats the purpose of "wireless". Pass on this remote.
