Upon install the Matrox did a firmware update. Installation was unbelievably easy!!!

I was able to run the color bars in Final Cut smoothly allowing me to turn my ordinary TV into a color accurate video monitor. I do notice that I have to let the Matrox warm up for a few minutes prior to editing otherwise I get dropped frames. I was able to encode a 3 min video in just under a minute. Definitely faster than real time.

I'm running it through an HMDI out to a 32" LCD 720P TV with superior picture quality. The added advantages are the Component in/out for video capture from my Canon XH A1S and the HDMI in for the Canon HV20.

This tiny monster comes highly recommended for those who are looking for fast H.264 encodes and color accurate external video monitoring capabilities through large LCD, Plasma, or LED TV's.

I bought this item and had to return the first one. Recieved my second one and was never told what drivers to install. I'm getting the blue screen and it crashes. Didn't know that they had a forum, and people on their complain about how thier's don't work. I wish I would had looked at that first. THIS IS A NO GO! I'M NOT BLAMMING BHPHOTO! MATROX NEEDS TO GET THIS TOGETHER.

Comments about Matrox MXO2 Mini Max for Desktop Systems:

I liked the first one on my CS5 workstation so much that I bought another one later in 2013 for my CS6 workstation. Both still work great. There are several things I find that make the Matrox MX02 mini very useful:1. Consumer TV calibration. You can calibrate HDTVs for post color work without having to buy a very expensive monitor. For instance, my workstations use two monitors for the software I am running and then a connnected HDTV to preview the video ouput as I am editing so I can see what it will look like as I am working.2. Accelerated video export. The hardware accelerated media export saves a lot of time when exporting finished videos. In the old RT.X100 days Matrox saved me a lot of time exporting .m2v for DVDs, now with the MX02 it saves tremendous time exporting h.264. Time is money.3. Matrox color correction, effects and codecs. It includes some tools which work with my Adobe software that I use A LOT! Namely the color match tools for matching footage. Also included are some keying tools, wipes and more. I also like the Matrox video codecs which I find are of good quality. Non-Matrox users can download the codecs in order to play the videos created on a Matrox system in case you are wondering.4. WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) plugins. I've loved this feature since my RT.X100 (still working, BTW). In After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, 3ds Max and more, this outputs your work on a connected monitor/TV so you can see exactly what your work will look like on a TV as you are working instead of having to export it only to find out it needs adjustments. My only complaint here is that somehow they managed to skip my verion of 3ds Max (2010)so I can't use it on my new system. In summation, I am very happy with my Matrox MX02 purchases. In future years I will upgrade to 4K and will again look to Matrox.

I use this for outputing to an external monitor, and it gives great images using the HDMI connections. Previously used a Black Magic Intensity Pro, but not very reliable (sometimes it worked ok but often not - think a driver problem)
I have not used the capturing facility yet.

Comments about Matrox MXO2 Mini Max for Desktop Systems:

The only problem I have is with Matrox and not this product. Driver installation has always been a problem with them. If you have issues during the setup process, do not waste time trying to solve it. Instead call tech support since a lot of the issues are not documented on their site.

The MAX technology that they advertise is still at question with me. Early testing has not achieved great results.

Comments about Matrox MXO2 Mini Max for Desktop Systems:

Bought this to speed up encodes for a HUGE project - 60 minute VOD piece for CBS. Encodes worked ok - pro-res to H.264 in about 2x realtime on my older dual-core 2.66 Xeon Mac Pro. Encodes are about realtime on my 2.2 core i7 laptop. But where it really saved our fanny is on the ingest - a colleague failed to provide the proper equipment to capture the stadium's jumbotron feed but was able to (with the help of an AJA HD-SDI to HDMI converter) ingest and simultaneously encode the uncompressed 59.94 HD video stream to pro-res, (synced to a seperate analog audio feed!) for the same day edit. If we didn't have this box we would have crashed and burned. Have yet to test out monitoring capabilities but it looks promising. Came with a card for the tower, and I bought the PCIe for my 17" macbook pro laptop. I will definitely be watching Matrox for what's up with their plans for the next gen of thunderbolt Macs.

Comments about Matrox MXO2 Mini Max for Desktop Systems:

If I buy this unit from the distributor in Singapore, it will take 2-4 weeks to deliver. I made the right choice by ordering it from B&H. Took 5 days and cost cheaper (GST, Shipping included)!!

Without the Matrox MX02 Mini with Max, it took my PC (i7 CPU, 24 GB ram, Win 7 64-bits) nearly 5 hours to encode a 1 hour 14 mins HD video. With the MXO2 Mini Max, it is just an hour and 6 mins!

If you have lots of H.264 video to encode, GET THE MXO2 MAX NOW!!

                  Extra Information:
I got the latest hardware product that has an issue (firmware) with old software (Premiere Pro CS 5.0.3). I am very impressed with Matrox support who spend one and a half hour on the phone (international call) helping me through to resolve the issue!

Comments about Matrox MXO2 Mini Max for Desktop Systems:

I bought this item mainly to reduce rendering times, and for the real time color correction.I didn't check the capturing ad I use only tapeless cameras. For what I bought it is working, not how is advertised realtime but is near :-)and improved a great deal my rendering time.Color correction is somehow intuitive but definitely you must get used to it.The manual is poor and a tutorial like the one from Safe Harbor computers will help a lot, but I am not going to pay another $89.00 for it, maybe should be bundled with the Matrox box to complete the insufficient manual. So far so good the Matrox box crashed Premiere CS5 only twice and only once I lost the project so except for this annoyance, what I consider it minor didn't give me any problems.

The Matrox MXO2 Mini with Max is the central piece of my workflow now. I use Adobe Premiere CS5 and MX02 Mini with Max to encode all my videos for fast deliver to YouTube. The outputs are realtime and outstanding quality. I don;t have a fast pc, but the encoding is done real time. Even though CS5 version 5.03 is not yet officially announced by Matrox, it works fine in Windoes 7 (64bit) environment.

Comments about Matrox MXO2 Mini Max for Desktop Systems:
