I use the DVD writer to burn photographs to DVD. It replaces the internal DVD writer in my Dell laptop which fails to burn DVDs properly about 75 percent of the time. This external writer is a big saver of blank DVDs. It has not failed yet. However, a word of warning, when loading a disk into the unit you must be careful to press the disk firmly onto the spindall, otherwise the disk may come loose inside the unit. It will then remain inside the burner when the door opens. It is then very difficult to remove.

The writer was great had problems trying to burn DVDs. Computer wouldn't and still doesn't recognize the blanks that I inserted into the burner, called Aluratek got great response. Emailed Nero (software) got a response two weeks later that made absolutely no sense to me. There is no phone number to call so I guess this piece of equipment will be put on a shelf for the near future.
