The Wimberley BS-100 Brass Reducer Bushing screws into the female threading upon the tripod collars of some larger telephoto lenses, essentially converting the hole to act like a 1/4"-20 threaded socket.  Wimberley quick release plates use 1/4"-20 screws, not the larger 3/8"-16 size.

Used to convert the 3/8"-16 size female threading upon large telephoto lenses' mounting foot to accept 1/4"-20 threaded male screws
Made in the USA of strong brass

Comments about Wimberley BS-100 3/8"-16 to 1/4"-20 Brass Reducer Bushing:

How could something so simple be so perfect? I was so concerned about the way that I would attach my new tripod head to my old tripod legs, and was baffled. Then I found this little baby, and all my problems evaporated. It is polished to perfection, and absolutely the best adapter I have ever seen. The finish is perfect, and the threads fit just right.

Quality of material seems quite good. Accurate thread size and pitch, so no trouble installing. Packed in handy ziploc bag which is good for storage if you are installing and removing the bushing frequently.

How does one write a review of a bushing, a simple little bushing? Well, if you need it, which I did, and you don't have it, you better get it, and thankfully Wimberley makes it and makes it well, out of brass. Screwed right up into the original Canon 600mm II lens foot in order to be able to attach a Wimberley plate with two screws.

Use it on a Zone VI Studios wooden field 4" x 5". Screws all the way into the brass 3/8"-16 tapped tripod plate and stays put. Holds camera tightly to 1/4"-20 tripod screw. High quality brass construction stronger than aluminum alternatives.

Comments about Wimberley BS-100 3/8"-16 to 1/4"-20 Brass Reducer Bushing:

I had an old Leica table tripod with a 1/4"-20 stud that I wanted to use with Gitzo G1077M ballhead.

The Gitzo ballhead has a 3/8"-16 nut, so I needed a way to mate the two. Many companies make various reducers that would theoretically work, but vast majority of them have only one or two threads on the 3/8" end, making it somewhat risky if you're going to use heavier equipment or are concerned about potentially snapping one of these due to overtorque. The Wimberley brass reducer is threaded all the way, has a slotted end (to make it easy to screw it in or out) and since it's made out of brass it's not likely to corrode the threads inside your ballhead or whatever it is you're using it in.

Given that brass is also softer than steel, there is less of a risk of damaging any threads on your cameras or tripods or ballheads or whatever you're using it on.

Of all the reducers available on the market, this one happens to be both the best value and the best quality. Buy a few to always have spares on hand!

I was on a teleprompter gig and the client's camera only had the 3/8"-16 mount. My slot on my prompter riser did not accommodate the 3/8" bolt so I was worried that my gear wouldn't work. Luckily, the grip said he had the perfect solution and pulled this out. Worked like a charm...so I immediately ordered a couple to keep in my own gear.

I needed this to attach a 3/8" microphone holder to a 1/4"-20 flash bracket when recording video. It fits flush with the base so the microphone holder is very stable. It's easy enough to remove with a coin if needed.

I had to convert 1/4"-20 to 3/8" and previous adapters would strip out when tightened. This adapter is much more solid and will not strip once tightened into place. I'm buying more to keep around the shop!

Screwed in easily, wants to unscrew with the screw at times. Overall works well.

well made brass bushing. better than pot metal or stainless in my opinion (softer than camera screws, and doesn't crack like inferior metals)

As a casual photographer, I really never paid attention to variation in screw heads and sizes till getting ready for vacation. Great for use on my Manfrotto Ball head, Induro Monopod and gorilla pod.
