Included are a pair of well made rubber speaker stands that raise the speakers a few inches off your desk but more importantly tilt the speakers backward. This points the tweeter upward toward your face. It does two things very well: it increases the brightness and widens the sound field. It is always a matter of balance between the tweeter and mid-range drivers in a speaker. The crossover circuit inside the speaker sends the higher frequencies to the tweeter (upper speaker) and the lower frequencies to the mid-range speaker (lower speaker). The engineer balances these two speakers to give the most accurate and pleasing sound. As you increase the volume, this balance can change dramatically in poorly designed speakers. These speakers were very well designed. They are neutral and natural sounding-not too bright and not too flat. By titling the speakers backwards, points the tweeters more directly toward your ears. If used without the stands on your desk, the speakers would be below ear level and may sound flat. The stands liven the sound just enough to improve accuracy. If the designer built the speakers with more "treble"' they would sound shrilly at higher volumes. You might think speaker stands are a luxury or not needed. Speaker stands are an important accessory to optimize sound accuracy from all speakers. Some manufacturers don't offer them - leaving the user to find expensive after market stands. These stands fit perfectly, are simple in design and improve the Sound. It shows the attention to detail from the designers who created the Audioengine A2 speakers. Highly recommended.

These may be perfect for the ADS1 but for the AV 40s they're too small and unsteady. They do improve the sound by getting speakers off the desktop and aiming them at ear level. They are overpriced for just being a couple of small wedges of hollow plastic. But when you're the only game in town ...

Comments about Audioengine The Perfect Desktop Stand:

Great for any 4" monitor, but a little too small for anything bigger. They make bigger ones if you have bigger monitors. These look great and are at the perfect angle. A must for entry level producers and PC gamers with 3" or 4" monitors/speakers.

      Desktop stand (Pieces of rubber)

      By c maz

Comments about Audioengine The Perfect Desktop Stand:

These speaker stands do their job of cutting out vibrations and buzzs. They are simply pieces of rubber tho, no reason to charge as much as these things cost. Get them if you want to have a pristine setup otherwise figure something out.

Comments about Audioengine The Perfect Desktop Stand:

I use the stands for the A2+ speakers. The stands absorb the vibration I'd otherwise get from the speakers sitting directly on my desk... they also allow the speakers to be better aimed.

I wouldn't say they are "must-buys", but they do help the speakers deliver excellent sound.
