Comments about Glidecam HD2000 Kit 3 Stabilizer System:

I got mine in the mail a day ago. It was late in the day when the package had arrived, so I spent a majority of the time setting it up and running around my house, etc.
I have a Canon 7D with a quick release plate that I had to do some fine tuning to fit snugly into the center of the Glidecams quick release plate.
I have yet to obtain complete balance. I'm shooting on a 18-55mm lens with a wide angle adapter on the fron of it.
It seems that no matter how many hours I spend trying to make it 100% balanced, I cannot do it. I've watched every video online, and read every forum, but it's just not working out.
I've shot some tests and I get good shots here and there, in the middle of really bad/swaying shots. But, they're there...
I see a lot of promise in this thing, but my wrist hurts from all the time I've spent trying to balance it, and I've pretty much given up on the product.
I'm thinking of just exchanging it in for a decked out shoulder rig, but I'm just not sure. They're two different things, but the learning curve on this is ridiculous.
I bought it knowing it'd take more than 15 minutes to figure out...but minutes turned to hours, which turned into "the next day", and I'm just tired now, with an aching wrist, and trying to decide if I should keep trying, or just return it.
Anyway, I see promise in the item. Maybe you'll have better luck than me...

Comments about Glidecam HD2000 Kit 3 Stabilizer System:

I received my Glidecam HD 2000 and had only one day to assemble and figure out how to use it before a shoot. I mounted my Sony HVR-A1U with a large battery and wide angle lens, using a Manfrotto quick release adapter (577).
This kit includes the balance and docking bracket which is invaluable for balancing the unit. It would have taken forever to set up without it. It took about 15 minutes to set everything up to perfect balance. The manual is pretty good and with the help of a couple of videos found on youtube, everything went well. remember to tighten down all the bolts once you have finished your adjustments.
I found the unit to be quite intuitive to use, and I was able to get surprisingly stable footage with very little practice. It will get even better with time I am sure.
The forearm brace is pricey, but I found it to be very helpful for the length of time I was shooting. It also helped to reduce forearm fatigue and the tremors that follow. True, like others, I found it a tad warm after a while, but a little suffering is good for your art, no?
having looked at the 2000 Pro, I found the extra expense of this HD unit is well worth the aggravation you will save yourself on the setup.
I am very happy with this new piece of equipment. Now, if I could just figure out a clean way to mount my 7" monitor to the sled, I will be all set!
