I have been transferring my ancient record collection to digital and Profile LP is really easy to setup and use. The software is decent for beginners to medium level users. The only thing I don't like about the software is that it is married to iTunes, and you need to download and set that up before you can start. Afterward though, it is fast and easy to redo if you mess up. I recommend it.

This is a very easy turntable to set up and use. Plug it into a power outlet, plug in the USB cable, done. The turntable works just fine and is perfect if you are converting old vinyl albums to digital.

The included software, however, is not very good. The Mac version is too basic and feature limited. It doesn't even have a pause button. So, I don't use it at all. I use Final Vinyl (which I got for free from Griffin, which makes Mac products) and it works very well. Audacity is a free program that can be used to clean up things like pops and crackles. There are other programs out there that also will work with this turntable.

I would have given the turntable itself 4 stars but until the included software is improved I can't give it more than 3.

Purchased at B & H in NYC. Was on sale, very reasonably priced. Works with Mac OS X. The ION USB turntable, records phonographs and downloads music directly into Itunes,on your computer. Well worth the cost, considering how much money I spent years ago, buying vinyl. Gone Digital.

Comments about Ion Profile LP - Vinyl-Archiving USB Turntable:

We bought this to convert my parents old albums so they could listen to them on a digital device.

The unit was very easy to setup and very easy to use. Its auto track feature was a bit too sensitive at times, but using the manual track identification was easy.

The unit uses iTunes to convert the recorded songs to mp3 format, so you will need iTunes running. This was a bit of a pain if you do not intend to have the music in your iTunes library since you will need to delete it.

The unit allows you to name the tracks and it uses these names in the properties of the file, but for some reason does not use them to name the actual files (all temp1, temp2...)

But it does do a good job on the conversion.

I have a very large collection of mono & stereo vinyl that I haven't listened to for a long time because it's easier to play CD's or, as of recently, use my iPod. Now, I've started the process of importing my albums into the iTunes program on my computer and then syncing them into my iPod. Very straight-forward and easy to use, including the program.

Comments about Ion Profile LP - Vinyl-Archiving USB Turntable:

This USB turntable is a great value for the money if you don't already have a good turntable with an eliptical sytlus, in which case you are better off buying just a USB interface and connecting to your turntable (DAK has a good one with RIAA equalized input for turntable cartridges). This ION turntable has a conical sytlus which produces slightly less fidelity, but most people will not notice the difference. That being said, I have personally used this USB turntable to convert a number of LP's and so far am very happy with it. Enough in fact that I purchased a second one as a gift for a friend. The software that it comes with functions well enough, but you are not limited to just using that software if you want something that is a little more automated and requires less attentiveness. I did switch to using AudioGrabber because I had it (and like it a little better), and it worked fine. Overall, I would recommend this turntable to anyone who has a collection of treasured vinyl LP's or 45's (heck, even 78's)that they want to convert to MP3 format. There is some vinyl you just can't find in digital format and this is the only way to get it there!

I love it for its simplicity, design and how it operates.

The only problem I have is that the RCA output cable is pretty lame, so I can tell I might have to change it soon so that I can keep the sound as it is.

I was sure when I took it out of the box that it wasn't what I wanted. It is plastic through and through. Now there are others that are plastic also but are built much more substantially. I returned it and paid a bit more and got a more substantially built and designed unit. Hats off to B & H for their return policy.

I haven't had a lot of time to fool around with it yet, but so far the set up was easy as pie (if u can make pie, if not, sorry), and hooking it up to my computer (and believe me, I'm not computer saavy), was a breeze. Sound is good, product looks expensive, playback was fantastic...come on...if u'r looking, buy it. I don't want to go overboard, but at this point, I'd recommend it!!!

I've been using this turntable since December 2010 now, and it has proven to be a great product. The conversion capability is useful and effective; the sound quality is great (I'm also no audiophile). I have my player connected to cheap computer speakers, and vinyls sound great! I'm not a prolific collector of vinyl at all, but my parents and I enjoy playing their favorites from the 70s-90s on it. I haven't tried new thicker vinyl records on this. Nor have I used the 45 adapter. Simple and minimalistic design that gets the job done!

Does what it says it will - transfers LP audio via plug & play USB to my PowerMac G5 without issue. Good sound quality. My beef is with the software interface. The manual says the software will add a new track when it hears a pause, i.e., the next song on the LP. It does not do that. Maybe the Windoze interface does, the Mac one does not. Also, the Mac interface does not have 'orange' level bars as indicated in the manual - again, perhaps the Windoze version does but the manual does not spell this out. As a result, some recording transfers came out way too hot. It also has no function for flipping the LP over - you either have to create a 'dead' track while flipping or create two sides separately - not a huge deal but seems it could be easily solved in the software. Overall, happy with the device, because thousands of great LPs never made it to CD. It is frustrating to have to run the recorded files through another program to eliminate the pops and clicks.

I bought this because I have several old wonderful record albums that are not available on CD. I was very surprised at the quality of the CDs I made using this turntable. Also, the whole process was very easy to understand. I am usually pretty dumb about these things but had no problems using this product.

Ideally I would have liked a replacement for my 40 year-old Garrard changer.
But this looked -and is- good as changers seem to be gone forever.
I almost didn't buy it due to two reviews which claimed distortion. Initially, I, too, had distortion as I plugged into "phono in" on my receiver/tuner. I concluded that the ION unit must have at least some kind of a pre-amp which old Garrard did not. So, all other receiver inputs being busy, I opted for line 2 input on my equalizer. Super result. I actually phoned a tech guy at the manufacturer who confirmed the existence of an amplifier inside the unit. I'm very happy with this unit although I have yet to try to convert LPs to CDs.

I use the turntable to, once again, listen to my treasured LP's.

The turntable comes with a long enough power cable but SO STINGY with the length of the RCA cables.

Comments about Ion Profile LP - Vinyl-Archiving USB Turntable:
