I bought this 62mm-77mm step up ring to avoid having to buy a 62mm circular polarizer in addition to the 77mm circular polarizer I already own. There's no vignetting with the lens combination I use it with (Nikon D300 + 105mm f/2.8 macro), but that may not hold true for a full-frame sensor and ultra wide angle lens. The only downside with this step-up ring is that it prevents me from using my lens hood. But for the cost of another polarizer (and the extra size and weight in my camera bag), I'd rather just find some other way to shade the front of my lens.

Got this with my ND filter. Save a lot of money as I can use just one filter and use on my smaller lenses. Threads are well machined. Filter screws in smoothly and fits to lens filter ring without binding.

Well, it's a step up ring and it does the job it was intended to do. These general brand aluminum ones (often Bower brand) work just fine. These are a little more light weight but if you take care of your gear then they should last just as long as the heavier duty brass rings from some of the other brands.

The filter threads didn't feel silky smooth when I screwed the ring into the lens but I didn't feel like there was any danger of cross threading or damage to the lens. The ring works as advertised.
