The V89 from MXL is a large-diaphragm condenser mic ideal for studio use. Perfect for recording vocals or instruments, the gold sputtered diaphragm provides a natural tone for terrific realism. Low noise circuitry, combined with a custom body designed for minimal resonance, and a tuned grille cavity that eliminates standing waves and harmonic distortion provides a high level of sonic integrity.

The mic capsule has a cardioid pickup pattern, which rejects noises on the sides and rear of the microphone, focusing only on sound sources in front of the mic body. The mic operates on standard 48V phantom power, which it receives via the standard 3-pin XLR connector. A wooden case, cleaning cloth, and shock mount are included.

Comments about MXL V89 Large-Diaphragm Condenser Microphone:

I bought this mic a few months ago. Hooked it up to the $2000 Grace preamp in the store it didn't sound like much(preamps are tricky) but when they hooked it up to the $700 Aphex it sounded great and I mean, it blew away all the other mics in the booth under $1200. I was looking for a Sony C 800 sound and this was the closest in the $400 range. Nothing by AKG, AT, Studio projects or blue comes close to this particular sound. When I got it home and hooked it up to my GB30 pre it sounded incredible. Why? I don't know, go figure but good for me. So now I have recordings that sound a whole lot like the Sony C 800g. In fact, this mic is so good that I did not use EQ to take away or gain frequencies when I record with this mic. If you're looking for that in your face sound. I only recommend the following: MXL V89 $300+, Peluso VTB $1100+ or getting the real Sony C 800. The only challange now is to find a stand alone preamp to compliment this mic since the Grace didn't do it justice for some reason. I'd imagine that the FMR RNP would open this mic up considerably since the RNP is a "Hard wire" pre. The V89 is a "hyper frequency response" mic in the 10kz range much like the Sony C 800g so I hope this helps folks out there who can't afford to spend $9000 on a mic. Now for the price, I recommend that all professional studios should at least have a pair of V89s on hand and home studios should at least have one to fit todays modern sound. Cheers

WE HAVE 3 GO TO MICS
THIS IS BY FAR THE BIGGEST OF THE 3
BUT MAN WE DO HIPHOP RECORDING AND SOME R&B
THIS BAD BOY IS HEAVY SOUNDS CLEAN IS A BIT TOO CONDENSER-ISH MEANING IT PICKS UP EVERYTHING!
BUT IF YOU HAVE A BOOTH THIS IS THE ONLY MIC THAT COMES CLOSER TO A SONY C800G OF THE 3 MICS WE HAVE.
IF YOUR TALKING AN ALL AROUND MIC MEANING IF YOU ONLY HAVE THE CASH FOR ONE MIC IN YOUR HOME STUDIO THIS IS NOT THE MIC YOU WANT TO BUY
THE AKG C214 - Cardioid Studio Condenser Microphone IS A MUCH BETTER MIC BETTER THEN RODE BETTER THEN NEUMANN MICS

THE 3RD AND LAST MIC WE HAVE IN HOUSE IS
Neumann TLM 103 D Digital Microphone
ITS THE BEST MIC EVER, NEXT TO THE SONY C800G ITS 100% DIGITAL

BUT IF YOU CANT DECIDE AND YOU HAVE LITTLE CASH AND YOUR LOOKING FOR YOUR FIRST HARDCORE REAL MICROPHONE FOR HIPHOP USE I RECOMMEND NONE OF THE MICS ABOVE YEAH YOU HEARD RIGHT I RECOMMEND
THE GO TO MIC OF ALL GO TO MICS!
COMING IN AT ONLY $500 BUCKS !
THE Neumann BCM 705 OR BCM 104
BOTH ARE UNDER $600 BUCKS AND WORTH EVERY PENNY! Microphone
YES ITS THE ONLY NEUMANN UNDER $1000
THAT IS WORTH BUYING! OTHER MICS THAT NEUMANN
HAS RELEASED UNDER 1000 ARE GARBAGE!
    THIS MIC IS 100% GOLD!
