The InVision Video Hot Shoe Adapter from Rycote slides into the hot shoe mount of most commercial camcorders to hold microphones with diameters from 19-25mm, while protecting against camera motor noise and vibrations. The InVision Video uses the patented Lyre Suspension webs with a molded grip design to prevent your mic from slipping or twisting. For ease in finding the right mounting position, the InVision Video rotates freely 360° on a slotted 4" (100mm) mounting bar. The cradle can slide freely on this slotted bar to keep your mic out of the shot.

Picked this because someone else mentioned they were using it with great results with the same mic that I also purchased, so I bought this to go with it. Haven't used it much yet but seems to work very well!

Put this purchase off... shouldn't have

Comments about Rycote InVision Video Hot Shoe Adapter:

For some years now I have been using the typical rubber band/o-ring shock mounts. They work superbly... until you find that the bands have broken. That usually is noticed on the day of the wedding, graduation, etc. I knew of the Rycote mounts, but thought they were a bit out of my range. So I put off buying one. Big mistake. The peace of mind that results from not worrying about broken bands is worth a lot to me now. As for which system works better, well, I can't prove the difference in any scientific way, but I think I would have to cast my vote for the English-made Rycote.
I am currently using this mic holder on my trusty rusty FX1, and it gets the mic away from the LCD screen mounted topside. Love it. And the old Sony!

        Works with Panasonic DMW-MS2

        By Pixel J

Comments about Rycote InVision Video Hot Shoe Adapter:

The Panasonic DMW-MS2 microphone for the Panasonic DMC-GH3 camera does not have a shock mount and therefore picks up significant handling noise. So I was looking for a shock mount that would also fit the odd design of the DMW-MS2. The InVision Video shock mount adapter seems to fit the microphone perfectly and provide good reduction in handling noise. The only downside is that the stock Panasonic windscreen doesn't completely fit when using the InVision Video adapter so may want something like a Rycote 033042 windscreen to go with it. The Rycote doesn't cover the top stereo mic, but I don't really use that so it didn't matter to me.

Comments about Rycote InVision Video Hot Shoe Adapter:

I use this for video and news production for an independent media outlet, have been using it on a Sony HDR-FX7. What an excellent mic mount... incredible sturdy plastic, I always leave it mounted on my camera and keep the camera in a small backpack when going to shoots where I need to be descrete (i.e. not have people know that my backpack holds contents worth stealing) and the Rycote mic holder is always getting placed in positions where it is put under stress, extended periods of time bent inward, etc, it always goes reverts right back in position, the plastic never bends, it always bounces back to where it needs to be, really incredible material, seems indestructable. Holds the mic very firmly and securely in place (Sennheiser ME-66) there is no give for it to slide around or anything. I have never heard any noise from operating and manipulating the camera, even in run and gun situations (in a hectic crowd at a protest, people running bumping into the camera, etc) the shock mount truly does its job in isolating the mic. The only downside is that it is WAY too expensive... but I guess since it's the best that I've worked with, it is worth it, other devices have the chords that stretch out over time and are way too easy to lose, this thing is a tank, it is the best at what it does.

Excellent design in every aspect. Tight grip of mic but it is easy to insert without having to slide through a bunch of rubber bands as with other holders. The hot shoe mount is also well designed and makes it easy to attach to either a stand or a hot shoe without needing to buy additional items.

I bought this to use with a Sennheiser MKE 600 mic and it makes it easy to mount the mic and have full access to the switches and to mount a windshield over the active section of the mic.

I bought this to replace the cheap shock mount that came with the videomic pro. This mount is sturdier, more durable, more accessibility, and very easy to setup. Say good-bye to those rubber bands and hello to rycote's incision shock mount. Only con is that it's a bit pricey, but this is the best alternative out there.

Comments about Rycote InVision Video Hot Shoe Adapter:

I got this for on-camera use with an Audio Technica AT4073a Microphone, which is extremly sensitive (-23 dB [70 mV/Pa]), and notorious for it's low-end pickup (30-150Hz).The InVision Hot Shoe Adapter (Lyre Shock-Mount) effectively reduces low frequency shock transfer to the mic. It's pricey, but you get what you pay for.And in my opinion, this mount is worth it.Regarding on-camera microphone mounts in general... nothing can stop all handling noise because half of the handling noise the mic picks up is transferred via the air, and not the physical mount. That being said, this mount handles the low-freq shock-transfer better than any other mount I've used for on-camera. But, if you have sticky fingers, don't expect it to help with that sound, you just gotta learn to hold the camera right and not fiddle around while recording (or try mounting the microphone on a head-band on your head).

The InVision Shock Mount offsets the mic perfect! Setup with this mount is quick and easy and drastically reduces the amount of noise picked up from bumping the camera and using the cameras different controls.

Comments about Rycote InVision Video Hot Shoe Adapter:

Although more expensive than your typical hot shoe shockmount, the InVision Video puts Rycote's patented lyre suspension technology into a well-designed package. Sure I could have spent half this price for a Rode SM3 and maybe even less for an Azden (both use elastic bands that are nowhere near indestructible like the Rycote), but I wanted quality. If you want the best, you have to pay more. Simple as that. Of course any pro would tell you that mounting a mic on camera is a big no-no, but for many of us who shoot videos on the run while on vacation, spending time with family, hanging out with friends, or anything else where a boom is not practical a shockmount like the InVision Video does the job really well. For booming purposes, you can always buy an adapter for this mount from Rycote, which gives it more flexibility.

The only gripe I have about this mount, however, is the cable clamp is way too stiff. If I tried to fit an XLR cable it may break if I applied too much force. Fortunately, Rycote has recently done something about this and is now adding a newly designed cable clamp to answer this problem. All InVision Videos will be packaged with this new design soon and for us existing owners, we would have to contact Rycote for this replacement clip. Once they send them out, they can easily be screwed near the end of the bridge next to the existing clamp.

On to the Pros and Cons

Pros: great isolation, superior handling noise reduction, holds mic firmly, maneuverable, virtually indestructible, no need for replacement bands, boom mounting capable (with an adapter)

Cons: The only con I have with this is now fixed (i.e. the cable clamp)

So if you're on the lookout for a shockmount that could be mounted on camera or on a boom, get the InVision Video. You won't regret it. Trust me.

Comments about Rycote InVision Video Hot Shoe Adapter:

Use: On-camera substitution for Canon XL mic mount; used in conjunction with shotgun mics.

Pros: Markedly improved mic isolation over Canon's mic holder on XL series equipment; securely grips mics; versatile axial positioning of mic; relatively unobtrusive. Although I wouldn't recommend it as standard practice, I was astonished to discover that I could get away with mounting the Canon XL mic without any problems.

                                    Cons: A bit pricey.
