The Olympus FL-14 Flash is a basic but efficient TTL unit for use on the E-P1 Pen or any other Olympus digital camera with TTL capacity. Short and wide with a black and silver color to match the E-P1's aesthetics, the FL-14 provides excellent efficiency with just 2 small "AAA" batteries. With straight-forward controls and TTL flash exposure when mounted on the E-P1 or other Olympus digitals, the FL-14 won't intimidate the casual user while still providing perfectly-exposed images with 14mm and longer lenses.
- Styling & Shape Perfectly Fitted to the E-P1 Pen Camera
- The FL-14's short height and silver-and-black color scheme's an ideal match to the tiny E-P1 Pen camera.
- 3 Selectable Flash Modes
- Mount the FL-14 directly on the E-P1 (or other Olympus TTL-enabled digital cameras) for perfect TTL exposure, or use "Auto" thyristor-enabled autoexposure and "Manual" full-power flash if preferred.
- Thrifty on Power
- The FL-14 makes 80 full-power flashes with two tiny "AAA" batteries, and 130 flashes with most NiMH units. In TTL mode at moderate 200-400 ISO settings you will get even more flashes on a single set of "AAA" batteries.
- Simple Fixed Coverage
- The FL-14's a no-fuss device; it has a fixed 70 x 55° illumination beam that will fully illuminate the field of view of a 14mm lens on the E-P1 camera.

I purchased this to go with my E-P1, knowing that it lacks a built in flash. The flash is easy to use and produces decent results for an on-camera flash. Its limitations are the same as for built-in flashes, particularly on small cameras (red eye, over exposure, etc.). If you need fill in flash, this is a must and with some adjustments on the camera, the flash gets the job done.

I'm a big fan of this flash. Recently started photography and use the TTL setting which provides great flash for social settings.
My favorite aspect is how unassuming the flash is visually -- generally using for party/social settings and people respond a lot differently to the Pen than larger more ostentatious flashes. I get more natural/candid photos which are still well lit.
Of couse i'm not a professional & could be that this flash is not versatile enough for some users.
One draw back is I always have to carry AAA batteries around because the flash dies pretty quickly.
Of course it claims to take about 100shots between 200&400 ISO and I find it takes close to 150/200 but the charge slows down progressively as the batteries die.
Charge is very quick with fresh batteries so I tend to change my batteries even when they still have half life just to keep snapping fast
All in all i'm very happy with this product

Fits in the hotshoe. Good closure. Pen cameras are pretty good in low light, but sometimes even a small flash makes the difference.

A well-built, compact flash that 'talks' to the camera. Small enough to carry around with no problems but enough power to do the job. The only down side is having to put it on and take it off when needed. I use this for get-togethers and family photos.

Fast and easy to use - great to add the flash to the EP-1 and it works absolutely fine in a pocket or in my bag when not needed. I've found it to be a little overwhelming when on auto at less than a metre or two; the flash is happiest a little further away.

I use the FL-14 flash primarily as a fill flash. It´s small and easy to use. Much better than any internal flash, but not as good as a "regular" external flash.
