The FLEX-D-17 Flex 17 TelePrompter from Prompter People is a complete teleprompting package designed to work with virtually any camera, from mini DV to ENG in size, as well as most tripods. It requires no tools to set up or break down, facilitating its use and management. It is constructed of custom, aluminum extrusions and an ultra-light LCD to offer a lightweight design that improves panning & tilting performance and does not require a heavy tripod.
This unit's beamsplitter uses UltraClear HD glass with low, iron content to help eliminate the color shifts and light loss commonly experienced in many beamsplitters. Furthermore, the glass features an anti-reflection coating on its back side to eliminate reflections that can bounce back into the lens.
This solution includes a licensed copy of Flip-Q Lite, a monochromatic, teleprompting-display, software package that is compatible with both PC and Mac platforms. The LCD panel in this package features both VGA and composite video inputs, as well as built-in speakers. It can be powered with 100 to 240VAC or external 12VDC input, making the solution equally well suited for field or studio use.

Comments about Prompter People FLEX-D-17 Flex 17 TelePrompter:
I used an older 17" prompter from Prompter People back in the day, and while it worked well, I had some complaints, largely it being difficult to transport, bulky, and awkward to work with various cameras.
The Flex-D-17 is great. It's simple, breaks down into two parts with just loosening some thumbscrews, and the rail system for mounting plates for the camera and tripod makes life a LOT easier than the old nuts-and-bolts method they used to use.
I just did a shoot with an FS-100 using Sony Primes. We'd switch out lenses every half hour or so, and it was a simple process: undo the thumb screws, pop the glass and shroud off, put on the lens, reattach the shroud and glass, and it was done. Took about 1 minute for the entire process.

Comments about Prompter People FLEX-D-17 Flex 17 TelePrompter:
Compared to the older teleprompters (even from prompter people) this one is practically a "snap together" design. Used it twice... once with HVX200 and once with AF100... and it was together in and ready to rock in under 5 min.
No bag of bolts, thrown in the kit yet... don't think it will need one... but only time and a variety of set-ups will be able to answer that...

Comments about Prompter People FLEX-D-17 Flex 17 TelePrompter:
I use it with the Canon Xa10 and GH2 Panasonic.
Good glass quality, and very sturdy
The 17" Screen size is excellent for tapings when the prompter if a bit far from Host, easy to set-up and prompting software is getting the job done.
Wished for an external usb or bluetooth controller to control speed scroll direction size and edit.
Great product.

Comments about Prompter People FLEX-D-17 Flex 17 TelePrompter:
The only reason I didn't give this prompter 5 stars is because the set up instructions stink and the power cord is short. However, calling the support number you will find helpful people who can talk you through any setup. Once you're set up you are ready to go.
A variable speed usb controller is a nice addition, otherwise control the speed from the computer. It does need a good carry case if you are planning to use this in the field. Remember, it is a big screen.

Comments about Prompter People FLEX-D-17 Flex 17 TelePrompter:
The unit arrived and we had it ready for the first shoot 30 minutes out of the box. The overall construction is better than i had expected and we're pleased. It is a substantial unit and mounts our Sony HVR-V1U pefectly, but requires a heavier Sachtler Video 14 or similar tripod - don't try on light Bogen with a 501 head.
