It may look like a miniature, but the Ranger Quadra S Head from Elinchrom is a grown-up flash head made to match the Quadra battery pack. Together, they'll give you 400 w/s of light, miles from the closest electrical outlet. Coming in at under 1 1/2 lbs (including an 8' cable), the Quadra S Head has a very efficient LED modeling light, producing the equivalent of 40 watts with only a 20-watt bulb. It can take EL umbrellas up to 3.4' diameter, as well as Elinchrom reflectors and other light modifiers. Small is beautiful.

Comments about Elinchrom RQ S Flash Head:
First I bought a kit with A-head, but then I learned that with this head, you can sync up to 1/8000. and it's true! I just can shoot in the middle of the day F.4 1/4000 without any problems. it's a great opportunity!

Comments about Elinchrom RQ S Flash Head:
The quadra comes in an A head and an S head. A for action and S for standard. Interestingly, the power output for the A head, even on the lowest power output is not fast enough to freeze the action for my high speed action photography.
But with the S head attached to Elinchrom's power pack and tethered to PocketWizard's TT5, I can coordinate with PW's HyperSync option to get a sync speed of 1/4000sec with minimal clipping, at full power.
The quadras are a good compliment to any truly portable studio. I look forward to the next generation of Quadras that will be truly compatible with all of PocketWizard's features.
