I don't know how it eliminates signal components upon compression. I think it's marketing thing. But it sounds also nice.
The bad thing is that there are too many connections (imho), and I'm afraid the the point where the wires going out from the control box to the phones is a weak link (because of bend).

I bought these headphones for daily use on a commuter train to block out unwanted noise from cell phone users and loud talkers. I also used them with success on a plane flight a few day ago.

They reduce outside news pretty well even without the NR on. With it on, they do a fine job of eliminating extraneous noises. Ironically, they don't block out nearby conversations, but that is taken care of by raising the volume.

Sonically, they are fairly warm sounding, tending toward a little too much bass for my taste. They do lighten up on the bass if you use your ipod/phone/MP3 player's tone adjustments. I compared them to Denon's $300 list on ear noise cancelling head phones, and the on ear phones had a bigger soundstage with more separation between instruments. But for convenience (you can't shove the on ear phones into your jacdt pocket), ability to wear on the street without looking like a geek, and noise cancelling quality, they are a good performer.

My only concern is that the case for the noise cancelling device is made of thin plastic, and the headphone wire should be a little thicker for what these cans cost.

On positive note, the earpiecea are well crafted and durable. Comes with a handsome zippered case along with extra earpieces.

Even though the carrying pouch looks large, there is only enough room for the headphones! After putting an ipod touch the pouch won't even close. With a headphone of this price, it doesn't even come with an organizer like the ones from Sony.

Comments about Denon AH-NC600 In-Ear Noise Cancellation Stereo Headphones:

I have tried these with my personal pocket am/fm radio and they do not work as well as I expected. The problem being the lack of good reception which is usually provided by the connecting cable acting as an aerial. My Sony NC earbuds work much better. The main reason for the purchase though was to use them on long haul flights and that wont be tested until next week.

I bought these primarily for long distance air travel-- while they noise cancellation may not be the BEST, it is way more than adequate, and the small size makes for easy packing, and makes it easy to sleep on the plane regardless of head position. the different ear pieces allow for the best personal fit

Comments about Denon AH-NC600 In-Ear Noise Cancellation Stereo Headphones:

Purchased with high expectations of 99% noise reduction and excellent sound quality. Unfortunately both these expectations were not met. Out there in the market there are many active noise cancelling in-ear headphones that, in my view, do a far better job. The in-ear headphones are uncormfortable and do not live up to the description on the packaging. One word.....dissappointed

Great NC with excellent sq and bass

            By Nitex

            from seattle wa

Comments about Denon AH-NC600 In-Ear Noise Cancellation Stereo Headphones:

I generally associate noise cancelling phones with low quality sound, however so far i am very pleased with the sound quality from the nc600's. The noise canceling works better than the onboard noise canceling my sony player comes with and requires the supplied headphones. Denon claims 99% reduction in sound. This system is good but i think 99% is a definate stretch. This is what Denon has to say about the Restorer fucnction -

"AH-NC600 are the first Denon headphones to feature our innovative Compressed Audio Restorer function, which restores very high frequency harmonics that are lost in the audio compression process."

I can definately tell there is a change in sound and for now i like it on however i still need listening time. There is a catch however with the denons NC and the Sony X. The noise canceling and sound restorer feature that supposedly improves the sound from compressed sound files, does not work from the standard headphone jack on the x series sony. I repeat if you have a Sony X series the NC on the Denon NC600 will NOT work less you have a line out solution. Instead all you get is a very loud white noise of sorts. If you have a line out then it seems to work fine. I can only assume its having an issue with the onboard NC the X series comes with. The phones will play just fine however with both settings turned off in this situation. Things seem to work fine in ipod camp as well as i tested them with my shuffle and iphone 3gs, i have yet to test with my touch.

I am not solely intending to purchase my phones based off NC capabilities. I do care about sound quality as i love the sound my D2000's produce. To my ears the nc600s highs are warm and the mids balanced, bass is strong and tight but not to overpowering from the 13.5mm drivers. At heart im a bass head and appreciate strong clear bass. My sony X has an EQ and i have done what i can to get the best sound. At Flat levels the sound was not all that "flattering" hah. Initial impressions lead me to believe these arent the most detailed phones but still quite good.

On build quality i am some what disappointed. The NC switch is light and gives it a poorly constructed feeling. On the other hand the phones themselves are solidly constructed and for me very comfy with the included foam tips.

In general i would recommend these headphones to anyone that needs to listen in a noisy area. The NC switch can be a drag so if your on the move a lot this may not be the best. It does have a clip which somewhat makes up for it.

Comfortable for in-ear headphones. As with all in-ear active noise cancelling headphones, noise cancellation is a combination of passive and active factors. Like all Denon headphones, these sound good. Foam earpiece a nice inclusion.
