Comments about Wein SSL Ultra Slave (3000'):

Use two of these along with the sending unit and they always fire, as they are supposed to. Optical slaves in some situations did not. Now with two of these on each side of the scene guarantees that they all fire (7-Sunpak 622 along with an old Minolta 360p). They also work outdoors, IF, no other strobes are being used. In that case you have problems with other photographer's flashes setting off yours.

Comments about Wein SSL Ultra Slave (3000'):

I've got some monolights that I have set up in a corner of my office for doing portraits of my estimable colleagues. With the Wein SSL Ultra Slave, coupled with the shoe-mount Wien infrared transmitter, I can bob and weave with an untethered, hand-held camera to get the best angle. No cords, and no missed shots, because this little device slavishly triggers the monolights every single time. It's a small accessory, but when you need it, you REALLY need it.

Comments about Wein SSL Ultra Slave (3000'):

I have used this combination in a studio environment, with a receiver on one strobe, and using that strobe to trigger a second strobe which had the option to be triggered by the first flash. I now need to be prepared for larger groups indoors, such as a high school band posed on gym bleachers. For that I will need to fire three strobes simutaneously due to the size of the group.

Comments about Wein SSL Ultra Slave (3000'):

I purchased the SSL Ultra Slave with the XT Open-Channel SSR S/B Transmitter as a kit. I've used them together on two location sessions where the camera and XT transmitter were enclosed in an RV trailer and the strobes and power pack were outside the trailer. The only failure to fire was when the slave and power pack were too close to the trailer. When moved away a few feet it worked perfectly. With metal walls separating the transmitter from the slave and only small trailer windows for the IR to pass through, this was a very difficult application. In normal studio environments this unit will fire every time without fail.

This is the 3rd one of these I have owned. I would recommend it to any serious photographer trying to build a lighting kit!
