Comments about Westcott Umbrella - Optical White-32":
I use this umbrella for individual head-and-shoulder shots. My other umbrellas are silver-lined and provide a more specular light. I like the soft light produced by this Westcott.
I'll probably buy a larger one next time.

Have a couple of Optex shoot throughs at home. This beats them hands down. Much better build quality: sturdier framework and satin material. Very pleased.

These work well where soft boxes become too bulky, especially on location.

Very well made and has a plastic cover with a snap to keep it clean. The satin is a nice material for the bounce back light. It works real good to light smaller sets.

Comments about Westcott Umbrella - Optical White-32":
This is a great small umbrella when that is what you need. Construction is mediocre, but it's very good for the price. There are some plastic parts (like the hub) but the light is just right. I use it mostly as a shoot through and with portraits and product work, it is easy to handle.

The Westcott White Satin umbrellas are my first choice for portrait lighting. Softer than silver umbrellas, yet the satin finish offers plenty of light. One to two stops more light than the usual shoot-through umbrellas.

I use this umbrella for portrait lighting shooting straight through it. The lighting is very soft and diffuses specular highlights.
