The Sigma 10-20mm f/3.5 EX DC HSM Autofocus Zoom is a super-wide angle lens with a relatively bright f/3.5 maximum aperture throughout its zoom range, helping to ensure high image quality. The lens gathers enough light to make it a great choice for indoor shooting as well as landscapes and creative portraiture. This version of the lens is exclusively made to fit Sony's Alpha lens mount, which is also shared by the discontinued Minolta Maxxum cameras. It is not intended for use with Sony's "full frame" digital SLR cameras, or for any film-based Minolta Maxxum cameras.
With a wide angle viewing range of 102.4-63.8°, this lens can empower a photographer to produce creative images with exaggerated perspective. Its Super Multi-Layer coating reduces flare and ghosting, and a HSM autofocus motor provides quiet operation, high speed, and perhaps most important the ability to manually override focus position at any time.
The 10-20 f/3.5 EX DC HSM incorporates an inner focusing system to eliminate front lens rotation, which also makes the lens able to use an included petal-type bayonet hood to eliminate extraneous light from striking the front of the optic. Two ELD (Extraordinary Low Dispersion) glass elements and a SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass element provide excellent color fidelity, and 4 aspherical lens elements provide correction for common distortions.
This lens has a minimum focusing distance of 9.4" (24cm) throughout the entire zoom range, and a maximum magnification ratio of 1:6.6.
Note! Vignetting will occur if the lens is used with 35mm SLR cameras or digital cameras with image sensors larger than APS-C size

Comments about Sigma 10-20mm f/3.5 EX DC HSM Autofocus Zoom Lens for Sony Alpha:
Superb quality at a fair price. This lens is amazing. I wish I would have made the leap months ago. I'm a realtor and shoot my own photos. This lens was the missing link. I shoot with a Sony a65. My friend shot with much more expensive lenses, full frame camera and the results were very similar. My processed photos were a little softer, but then again I don't do much processing.

I spend allot of time photographing road-cuts (geology) a super-wide lens is a must have... this lens allows me to capture the whole image without distortion. Coupled with a high MP body I can enlarge the image for added detail…

Comments about Sigma 10-20mm f/3.5 EX DC HSM Autofocus Zoom Lens for Sony Alpha:
I am a photo enthusiest and wanted an ultra-wide zoom. This one suits me well. It is relativly fast for a mid-price lens and the apeture does not change with zoom.
On my Sony A100 it does hunt to focus in lower light but easy to switch to manual in these instances.
Overall I am very pleased with my purchase.

Comments about Sigma 10-20mm f/3.5 EX DC HSM Autofocus Zoom Lens for Sony Alpha:
This is my second Sigma lens. I bought it primarily for landscapes.
The 3.5 throughout is what pulled me to this lens over the similar f4 -5.6 version.
I have yet to really put this lens through its paces, but so far I am very satisfied.
