The Hahnel Innovative Accessories HN-D90 Pro BatteryGrip is designed for the Nikon D90 & D80 digital cameras. The grip allows you to use with 1 or 2 Li-Ion batteries, even if they have different charge levels. You can also use the AA battery tray to power your camera with Ni-MH or alkaline AA batteries. Camera handling is improved with a lower point of gravity with the BatteryGrip in place, especially when long focal lenses are used.
The BatteryGrip also features a vertical shutter release that makes shooting with the camera in a vertical position just as comfortable as shooting horizontally. The included Infrared remote control can be used to activate the built-in infrared receiver on the camera body up to 39' (12m) away. The remote control transmitter provides autofocus before shutter release and continuous shutter release or bulb function for as long as the button remains pressed.

Comments about hahnel HN-D90 Pro BatteryGrip:
I love that the product allows me to get vertical photos without having to constantly twist the camera and raise my elbow. Most sports shots seem to work better as vertical photos and, since I shoot mostly sports, the battery grip/handle is wonderful.
The battery grip allows you to put in two of the dual-pack rechargeable batteries, but also comes with a holder that allows you to carry AA batteries as a backup. I have done several shoots and thousands of photos with one battery and expect that the two battery packs will be more than I can ever exhaust in several shooting sessions over a one or two day period.
THe only negative I have is that, once the pack is installed it feels .... thin and plasticy (for lack of a better description). I think the manufacturer made the plastic body as light as possible to avoid adding unnecessary weight and I am NOT saying it is not durable. Rather, I would appreciate it having the same thickness and feel as the camera body itself.
I see lots of photographers using a monopod with this battery handle (probably due to the weight of the lens), but I found the monopod to be comewhat cumbersome in shooting live action sports. I prefer to use it without the monopod, using the handle on the lens to hold the camera when I am not shooting.
