It's hard to imagine the size of a case with the images, and not too much better trying to use a tape measure on your desk to imagine the size either, but the final test of size happens when you receive the bag itself.

Note to B & H: Perhaps a way to solve this image problem is to include images of an item next to a common item that we all can relate to so that we get a better sense of what the item will look like when we receive it. For example, for smaller items, maybe a common pencil, or for medium items, maybe something like a can of soup - anything that can give the viewer a sense of scale. Sometimes, I've seen images that include a simple 12" ruler. That may reduce both disappointment and returns.

I bought this bag (actually two of them) for accessories, not a camera, as I have a larger bag for the Panny 160 by PortaBrace.

This was a great value. It has more camera block-padding options than you can use, and three velcro dividers. One divider is wide enough to reach across the narrow dimension of the bag, the other two are smaller, so are useful only for making a smaller compartment once the larger one is in place.

The side pockets are identical, roomy and the closure is secure and positive. Each pocket has a velcro-removable padded insert. When removed, it offers greater room for storage. Also, what's cool, is the removable pocket can function independently for storing more delicate items inside the bag or use independently. I thought that was way cool, too.

My hesitation for 5 stars was the latching mechanism of the cover to the front of the bag. They're clumsy and require considerable fiddling to get them unlatched and re-latched. Moreover, the cover, when latched, is so loose on the top that the rises above its closed position when you lift the bag with the handles. It looks and feels goofy.

There are buckles in the back of the bag, which I didn't figure out how to use, so I took them off. Also, the bag comes with a great shoulder strap, which I also disregarded.

The interior padding is red, really thick and protective of the contents. It's cool because you have a good chance of seeing the contents in dimly-lit areas, instead of looking in a black hole where the interior is black. Also, the interior padding is a single unit attached by velcro and, thus, removable if you want more storage room instead of padded protection.

The front pockets are shallower but still useful for less bulky items. There is a rear pocket, too, going across the length of the bag.

The manufacturer's tag attached to the bag showcased it's products, none of which included the bag to which it was attached. There were no instructions, guide to use or anything that would impart information about features, benefits or how different people used the bag for their needs. I would have appreciated seeing ideas that other people may have come across that I didn't think of. It would have added more value to the product.

The more I explored this bag upon arrival, the more cool things I discovered, but I couldn't resolve the issue of the loose top (funky) and the cumbersome buckles. The adjustment of the front straps did not accommodate enough shortening to take up the slack of the front buckle straps. So, I deal with it.

All in all, it's one of the better bags I've purchased, but it's not as well thought out as the more expensive PortaBraces. Then again, as you know, you get what you pay for. In that light, this bag is a great value and very useful.

Comments about Domke Pro V-1 Video Bag:

Very well made bag, with plenty of padding etc and compartments. It is a video bag, but I bought it anyway even though I planned to use it with a DSLR and some gear. It works fine for that with some adjustments.

One thing I didn't like as much is the main compartment does not have a zipper, and I would prefer one. You will have to adjust or modify for your uses but for mine, it works well.

A very good value. Glad I purchased it. Very well constructed and ought to last a long time. I do have another Domke bag, one for my film camera (back in those days) but without all the padding. It's great. So I looked at this for my dslr especially when doing video and I need to carry my gear.

        Definitely worth it.

The bag is bigger "in person" than I imagined when browsing on website even the measurents were given. The bag looks very professional, well-built, nice easy-to-grab handle. It fits my 60D and HDR‑CX760V and all of their accessories (still have extra room) when I need to carry it to the recording of the next dance show that I will attend. Just need to reach into one bag, everthing will be there. The handle is easy on my hand. Yay! Love my bag.

While advertised for video, I needed a way to transport my medium format digital camera gear. This bag is ideal. It holds my Leaf AFi camera with the normal lens, its shade, and the digital back, plus two lenses easily. The padding is great. I love the way the movable walls seal tightly on the sides of the bag and the bottom. Great pockets on the outside.

I have two of these bags. One is arranged to fit a Canon 1D Mark 4 with a 300mm f/2.8 lens and an extender. The bags come with velcro-secured partitions and a generous supply of cloth covered foam blocks that can be arranged to provide a custom fit for the equipment, which makes them very versatile. The other bag holds three lenses and two pro bodies in the main compartment. The bags have seven additional pockets, two of the pockets have weather-sealed zippers and are thickly padded, as is the main compartment. The equipment can be logically arranged and is easy to find, even when the bag is slung over the shoulder. Like all Domke products the quality, design, and construction are superb.

Comments about Domke Pro V-1 Video Bag:

This bag is classified as a "video bag", but I use it with my photography gear. There is a ton of room inside! It comes with a generous number of cloth-covered foam blocks so you can define your own compartments. The Velcro holding the partitions in place can be a challenge to work with, but it sure is secure!

I didn't think the cover on the bag closes tight enough - though maybe I just don't have enough gear yet! I think it would benefit from a Velcro closure on the cover - which I might add myself. The only thing holding the cover closed are two snaps/rings, which I'm not a huge fan of.

External zippered compartments/pouches are also very generous and have removable padding as well.

The shoulder-strap is great and has a nice pad.

The only feature I could say is missing is a way to affix typical tripod securely. I used an extra bungee to solve this problem but the result is still a little awkward.

Overall this is a comfortable, functional bag for photo or video gear. Anything bigger might be classified a suitcase!

Wasn't happy with the top of the bag closing. Couldn't tighten the straps down enought so that the top of bag was closed when holding the handle. Returned to B&H the next day for refund.

The product was accurately described but I though I could fit a bit more in it. I'm using this for DSLR's and some lens...provides great protection: think walls, lots of velcro (a bit annoying) divdiers to keep things from bumping each other.
The one (1) drawback I see is that the flap for the main storage has no zipper....that means in a dusty place there's far less protection. (I'm planning a trip to Death Valley so I guess I'm leaving this one behind...)

Comments about Domke Pro V-1 Video Bag:

I know this is sold as a video bag, but I purchased it for my pro still gear and it's terrific. I've had numerous Domke bags through the years, but this is my first hard-sided style. It gives my Canon 1Ds, 3 lenses, strobe and important paraphenalia secure places to nestle seperately and snugly. I'm not using any of the included blocks (they take up too much room) but pulled the dividers from an older Domke bag and use those instead. Perfect!
I am having trouble getting used to the outside clasps, however, as they are awkward to manipulate easily with one hand, which I am accustomed to doing with my old canon bag.

Comments about Domke Pro V-1 Video Bag:

This bag has thick padding, which will provide excellent protection for your camcorder and other accessories, but at the expense of some room on the inside.

It is made of durable materials, which I expect would last for years. It has numerous padded-partitions inside that attach with velcro, which allow you to customize the interior of the bag to arrange and fit your camera and/or other accessories to your liking.

I was disappointed with the outer pockets on the front, left and right sides. Those pockets are tight, so you are limited to what you can fit in them. However, the rear side pocket is much roomier and should be long enough to fit a shotgun microphone or other bulkier item. Overall, this a fine bag.

I was amazed at how well this bag stacked-up against the Porta-Brace gear I've used professionally for decades - and at half the cost! This bag is perfect for a modest DSLR system rigged for stills and video - 'room for multiple lenses and accessories, and the customizable divider system is great. External LCD monitor, batteries, headphones and even a modest tripod can be attached (outside) with the supplied straps. Padding is excellent and rigid walls and floor will keep it all protected.

I fill this puppy up with the essentials that I need for a video production gig. I use a canon xa10, which is small, with the wide angle lens attached, all my audio gear, filters and extras including a notebook. Originally I planned to pack a DSLR in there and I now realize it would make for a tight fit but I still believe its doable if I make a few adjustments. All in all I love it, the look is sleek, professional and quiet. Its also very comfortable to carry with substantial protection for the gear.

Comments about Domke Pro V-1 Video Bag:

I was using a Lowepro med size sling bag for my photo/video shoots. It got cluttered really fast, and had problems of devices turning on cause of them bumping into each other. I searched for days trying to decide on what to get. I cam across this bag and gave it a try. There is LOTs of room in this thing. You get a bunch of cloth covered blocks with velcro so you can configure the inside the way you need/want. It carries everything i need. My T3i w/ 50mm prime, 3 go pro cams (with cables, chargers, wifi bacpac and large assortment of mounts), Canon speedlite, 7" lcd screen, 18mm-55mm lens, fisheye lens, 55-250mm lens, Zoom H4N recorder, xlr cables, etc. Plus a bunch of batteries and memory cards. Very well build and will last for a long time.

For me its easier to carry it all the gear together filming a live show then lugging in multiple bags/cases. Highly recommend!
