Comments about Manfrotto 1005BAC-3 Alu Ranker Light Stand Pack of 3 - 9' (2.7m):
They are very strong, stable and light. I can load them with my heaviest studio lights and accesories and they stay stable. They extend high enough for highlighting hair,or doing some special effects. Paradoxically they are also light, so they are easy to carry along. Besides, they can be stacked together(several of them), flat, with a built-in clip which is fantastic and carry to the field or keep them in a tight space (excellent design!). The air cushioned system is good but I have seen stronger and much safer air-cushioning systems stands for heavier lights. Overall, I love them!

Comments about Manfrotto 1005BAC-3 Alu Ranker Light Stand Pack of 3 - 9' (2.7m):
I really like the engineering that allows these stands to interlock for storage and transport...but three together can be a bit heavy. The legs seem to be a little "tricky and sticky" to fold and unfold. I am hoping with familiarity and practice, this will be overcome.

Comments about Manfrotto 1005BAC-3 Alu Ranker Light Stand Pack of 3 - 9' (2.7m):
I bought these because they lock together, and help create a professional image for me. Face it, they are cool in the way they open and close, and the way they interlock together. My other photographer buddies think they are neat too. The 9 footers I bought are the size I'd get for monolights although I am using them for Speedotron heads as well. They're pretty solid and sturdy. I've read where others have stated the leg locking mechanisms broke or snapped off. I can see where that could be a possibility if you are rough on gear, or if one is left flipped in the open position. I don't foresee that happening to mine but time will tell. I try to be easy on my stuff although at times I'm a bull in a china shop. The column locking knobs are nice and easy to grip with a texture to them. The detachable spigot is handy too with both size studs. The first chance I get, I am getting the next size smaller and that will round out my gear superbly. Get the manfrotto bag too! I love it.

I got these a few weeks ago and am not sorry. They are easy to set up, and they pack away and hook together with a ease. I have used these stands with a fellow photographer and when I decided to buy my own stands, there was really no debating. Very strudy stand with nice wide base and great height.

Comments about Manfrotto 1005BAC-3 Alu Ranker Light Stand Pack of 3 - 9' (2.7m):
Would have given 5 stars but demoted because there is a bit of a design flaw (or weakness) in the stacking mechanism. My 1st shipment f these stands came with rattling noises I suspected (and confirmed) were broken parts. Returned for a new threesome which arrived with no problems. I recommend treating the stands gently just in case.

The stands lock well and pack well. Sorry they don't come with a carrying bag.
My one warning is that the 1st shipment I received had a broken part. The part that was broken was the mechanism that locks the 3 stands together for carrying. I have a feeling that is a poorly designed and I dropped a star (I would have dropped only 1/2 star given the option).
Other than that, they're great.

Comments about Manfrotto 1005BAC-3 Alu Ranker Light Stand Pack of 3 - 9' (2.7m):
This is my first purchase as a serious photographer who is trying to start my own business. These stands are very very sturdy, I was surprised by this because they were not that expensive. They have a nice wide stance and grip my wooden floors nicely so when I am moving around and bump one it does not move. The adjustable height is amazing because they comfortably fit into my "studio" and travel outside well. I have not used them much outside yet but on the dry ground (cleared of course) they sat fine and the weight of my strobes do not cause them to waver even the slightest. So far I love these stands!
