The B+W 46mm Clear MRC 007M Filter is a simple, clear filter designed for general protection for your lens. This optically clear filter does not affect the overall image quality while helping reduce dust, scratches, moisture, and other elements from damaging your lens.
The Multi-Resistant Coating (MRC) is both an anti-reflection coating as well as a protective surface. It helps to increase light transmission by reducing reflections, scattered light, and ghosting. Additionally, it offers greater protection to the filter substrate and stays cleaner for longer than uncoated filters.
B+W filters are constructed from high quality Schott glass for increased optical clarity and color fidelity. They feature a brass filter ring for durability as well as jamming prevention.

The filter is used to protect my lens. The MRC coating appears to suppress flare.

Comments about B+W 46mm Clear MRC 007M Filter:
The highest quality protection only filter with absolutely no effect on the image so this filter is a dream come true. Typically, I don't like any filters on my lenses (unless needed) but on a carry-around-camera I do.
In my opinion (whatever it's worth to you) this is the best you can get.

Provides lens protection without any negative effect on the color or performance of my expensive lens.

Comments about B+W 46mm Clear MRC 007M Filter:
The only negative is they are not free. The protective glass does not impart any noticable (by me) artifacts to the images. I would have preferred a Hoya HD for the hardened glass, but they are not available at 46mm.

Comments about B+W 46mm Clear MRC 007M Filter:
Excellent quality filter. I use this primarily as a protector for my expensive glass. Does NOT affect image quality at all. This may cost a bit more, but don't skimp out and buy cheap filters. Highly recommended.

I was a lifelong tiffen fan, but after trying B+W, I wont go back. The multi-coating and solid feeling ring are worth the extra money.

Comments about B+W 46mm Clear MRC 007M Filter:
It truly is hard to tell if it is mounted. Has had zero effect on my images. It does a good job of protecting the lens on my Sigma DP1X (with hood). I normally worry about 'protection' filters but this camera is particularly venerable.

Use it to protect 20mm pancake on e-pl2. Don't see an appreciable degradation in IQ. I would recommend it.
