The Singh-Ray 77mm LB ColorCombo Polarizer Thin Mount Filter blends both the LB Color Intensifier and LB Warming Circular Polarizer into a single filter to provide the benefits of both in a more convenient package.

The LB Color Intensifier aspect is designed to enrich local color contrast in specific regard to warm colors as well as greens. The filter strives to boost the intensity of those specific colors while maintaining a natural rendering of other neutral colors as well as white tones within the scene.

The LB Warming Circular Polarizer portion of the filter helps to reduce reflections and glare by filtering out light that has become polarized due to reflection from a non-metallic surface. This results in a noticeable increase in the saturation of skies and foliage, as well as clearer imagery when photographing in hazy conditions. A circular polarizer differs from a linear polarizer in that it supports full use of a camera's autofocus and auto exposure functions. Additionally, a warming effect is applied to imagery by imparting a slight red/yellowish hue across the entire image.

The LB designation of this filter stands for "Lighter, Brighter", which refers to the lower optical density of the filter that enables shorter shutter speeds or smaller f/stops to be used when the filter is in place. The brighter design of the filter also enables a brighter viewfinder image to aid in composition as well as improves auto exposure and focusing performance. This filter requires an additional 2 stop exposure for normal results.

Singh-Ray ring-mounted filters are constructed from highly polished proprietary glass to provide notable image quality and clarity. The thin ring mount design measures 4.8mm-thick and helps to prevent vignetting when used on wide-angle lenses. It does not feature front threads for stacking filters or using clip-on style lens caps.

LB Color Intensifier

Enhancing filter boosts the intensity of greens and warm colors without producing an unnatural appearance.
Strengthens local color contrast and saturation.
Maintains a natural rendering of whites and other neutral colors.

LB Warming Circular Polarizer

Reduce reflections and glare by filtering out light that has become polarized due to reflection from a non-metallic surface.
Arrange and filter directionally polarized light perpendicularly to the reflected light allowing for the absorption of much of the light.
Lessens haze in distant landscapes and provides more saturated, vivid colors.
Strongest effect when used at a 90° from the sun.
Warming effect adds a red/yellowish tone to imagery in order to minimize overwhelming cool tones and add a brighter appearance.

Works as advertised. Clearly makes colors pop, particulary yellows and reds. Also, has the ability to cut through haze a tad bit.

really good filter to be honest, and not regerting the money i paid for it, gives that missing thing that i'm looking for in colors (especially in sunset and sunrises) to the photo and and would really love to see it in 95 mm size i think i would work great with the zeiss 15 mm 2.8

Comments about Singh-Ray 77mm LB ColorCombo Polarizer Thin Mount Filter:

My landscapes needed help and reworking them in post processing was taking too much time and wasn't really working that well. Now using this polarizer and warming filter from Singh-Ray I get what I want right out of the camera. I have the thin mount and sometimes hand hold a variable ND filter in front of the camera mounted filter. I love what it does.

Comments about Singh-Ray 77mm LB ColorCombo Polarizer Thin Mount Filter:

This is a must have filter for hazy and pale scenes.

I find this filter brings out red, green and blue naturally. It cannot compare with the build in color saturation as the filter produces natural feel without losing its details.

Using this filter is saving me a lot of time on the Lightroom. For example, on the Indian temple image, the only thing I did on the light room was Auto correction mode!! The rest was untouched. On the Yap Ah Loy temple image, I did the auto with slight contrast to enhance the sunlight.

          My gears;
          1. Olympus E-5
          2. Zuiko standard 9-18mm wide angle
          3. Singh-Ray LB Color Combo

Comments about Singh-Ray 77mm LB ColorCombo Polarizer Thin Mount Filter:

You can't beat the quality on this filter. Quality aside, here's the deal...Here's why you actually need this filter. If you like landscape photography and shoot with wide angle lenses... You're going to likely be using filters, right? A polarizer is standard, if you spring for the more expensive warming polarizer, great. You also may have come across an enhancing filter too. Tiffen makes one. Now, when you stack these guys you can actually see the filters in wide angle shots. If you want to shoot water, you may also add a neutral density filter. Even more thickness on the end of your lens. Awesome.

So, you need this specific filter (the thin ring) because you combined the enhancing filter with the warm circular polarizer. Better yet you lose less light through this filter too! You get, I believe, 2/3rds of a stop compared to stacking two normal filters!

So it's really just a filter that you can't get any other way. I mean, you can...But, you're going to have to live with the faux vignetting from the filters or try to remove it in post processing.

The ONLY downside is that there are no threads on the front of this filter so it goes on last. This can be an issue if you like to use Cokin on top of things there...But not a big deal. If you want a graduated neutral density you can always hold it over the front of the lens yourself.

Be sure to grab yourself a push on lens cap!

I bought this filter to tack on to my 24-70mm Canon lens specifically for a walking tour of Mystic Seaport this weekend. The day was glorious and the foliage just starting to turn color. This filter really did what was advertised by popping the greens, brpwns and reds. Expensive but worth the price!

I have the regular version also, which slightly vignettes sometimes at 24mm. Since I was getting the 16-35mm lens, I wanted to get the thin version. It may just be me or the pictures come out better with this one. It still scratches easily and not so easy to clean, but it doesnt effect the quality. I thought I had all the bases covered, and bought the kaiser push on cap. But I forgot that without front threads, you won't be able to put on filter holders! Luckily, I also have the regular version.

Although I have not had the chance to use it over an extended set of circumstances, it has performed with precision, color and produced images that are better. Almost inclined to leave it on for most landscape work. I find it better than the standard circular polarizing filter. Since it reduces exposure by mostly two stops, it needs advanced ISO, aperture and shutter speed settings plus a tripod to compensate for most shots.

Its a great addition to my arsenal. Pricey but I do not see any degradation to the image quality. IMO, good glass needs a good quality filter, which I think this is. The only reason I put 4 instead of 5 stars is, its pricey and I have a hard time, sometimes removing the filter because of the thin mount. Even with the thin mount, I see vignetting, slightly if you must look for it, which is easily cropped or fixed in PP.
