Nik Software Complete Collection Software Plug-in is an absolutely amazing tool.
I use it as a plug-in for Aperture 3 - everything works smooth. On the beginning I was thinking about Color Efex Pro 3.0 And Silver Efex Pro 2 only but I decided to buy all collection. It was a good choice: I saved a lot of money and now I`m using all filters almost every day.
What is inside:
The Define 2.0 is really powerful noise redactor (works much better then DxO Optics Pro noise reduction - Define saves much more details and tonal changes).
Define offers 4 ways to reduct noise:
- automatically
- manually
- using control points
- based on individual color ranges
I like to use Define only when I`m shooting with really high ISO settings.
Usually I`m using noise reduction built-in my camera. This is the best compromise for me between loosing details and noise reducing.
Viveza 2 offers many creative enhancement sliders: shadow adjustment, structure, contrast, saturation etc. Also levels and curves.
You can change your pictures globally or through control points.
HDR Efex Pro is complete all-in-one HDR imaging tool. There is a lot of presets to use and a lot options to change. I`m not a big fan HDR photography - I used this plugin few times to see how it works. I like it.
In Color Efex Pro 3.0 you can choose between 52 creative filters.
Bunch of my favorites:
- polarization
- cross processing
- darken/lighten center
- graduated neutral density
- pro contrast
- film effects
- grain effects
You will find a lot of options - every filter can be modified as you like.
Silver Efex Pro 2 in my opinion it`s the best part of this collection. I`m mostly B&W photographer and I have been using previous version of Silver Efex Pro which was awesome. 2nd edition is even better!
What is new:
Enhancement sliders:
- Highlight, Midtone, Shadow Brightness control
- Amplify Blacks and Amplify Whites controls
- Highlight, Midtone, and Shadow Structure control
- Fine Structure control (very useful!)
- Selective Colorization
and my favorite:
- Dynamic Brightness control
- Soft Contrast control
Last two controllers are really powerful and gives great effects! - you should try, you will know what I`m talking about.
Changes you can apply globally or through control points.
I found also some new Vignette, Burn Edges, Image Borders effects.
Nik also improved interface and interactions controls.
Now you can also use History Browser.
SEP 2 is the best B&W imaging solution I`ve ever used!
Sharpener Pro 3.0 offers two kinds of sharpening tools:
- RAW Presharpener (applies a small amount of sharpening right after converting RAW file - you can change amount of Adaptive Sharpening. You can choose image quality between Normal and High ISO).
- Output Sharpener. Thanks to this filter you can prepare your pictures for the output device of your choice. I created few presets for my photos and it gives me amazing effects! Of course you can apply sharpening globally or through control points.
All collection is really easy to use. After one day of using you will know how it works.
If you are a serious photographer these filters are really for you. If you are an amateur or semi-pro you will learn a lot using this software. 5 stars it`s my rate!

I purchased the LightRoom version to add some tasks in the Develop module without using PhotoShop CS5. The install routine with LightRoom 3.3 just does not work. It does not allow each plug-in to work properly in "Edit in other applications". The install routine did not install each plug-in as a stand alone application. Although this is listed on the B&H site as a standard product, the packing list showed this item as special order and not returnable. Do not buy this product.

Comments about Nik Software Complete Collection Software Plug-in for Lightroom and Aperture:
I have been able to take some photographs that I took some years ago and bring out the image that I was trying to capture when I took them. I have used Viveza, Color Ejex Pro and HDR Efex Pro so far and have been absolutely blown away with the results I am getting with very little learning curve. It also allows me to accomplish what I am after in much less time. WOW!

Comments about Nik Software Complete Collection Software Plug-in for Lightroom and Aperture:
I use this in Aperture. I mainly purchased it for the noise reduction but the other stuff is fun to play with. It's much better than the noise reduction in Aperture. Pictures look great and everything was easy to install. The only downside is that it creates an alternate file (a copy) and that file is HUGE, about twice the original file size. I wish it could be used like the built in plug in.

Comments about Nik Software Complete Collection Software Plug-in for Lightroom and Aperture:
I've only used the SilverFX so far, but the results for my black and white and monochrome photos have been outstanding. The only downside is that the resulting files are quite large in size (typically 50-70 megabytes).
Highly recommended!

Comments about Nik Software Complete Collection Software Plug-in for Lightroom and Aperture:
I use it for both professional and social shoots. I have it integrated with Aperture. The Viveza and the Sharpener app are powerful and if you use semi-pro gear or DX formats, you will use Dfine a lot more for quality noise reduction. There are also a lot of "How To" videos on YouTube which will help and shows the popularity of the product. Some filters of Color Efex Pro 4 are great and intuitive - will save you a lot of time. I also liked Nik's superior customer service, the folks are knowledgeable, honest, courteous and friendly. Color Efex Pro 4 has some issues when you try to work on files from back-up (the customer rep was also surprised) but that is a minior glitch if you work from your HD. I am using it for last 3 weeks so I have a little more to learn. HDR is OK. Photomatix may be a better choice for serious photographers. But for this price offered by B&H, worth a Buy. Keeping one star for future upgrade for HDR - they need to give the photographic mode as a preset like other good softwares.

Comments about Nik Software Complete Collection Software Plug-in for Lightroom and Aperture:
I'm fairly new to photo post-processing & editing. Each of the programs in this bundle helps the beginner (and I'm guessing the seasoned professional as well) in cleaning up your shots, as well as helping with your creative side. I've tried to do B&W conversions in Photoshop Elements, and they always looked flat. Silver Efex Pro2 is THE program for fantastic conversions.

I use all the components after only slight adjustments are made in Lightroom.
It does the job nicely for me and provide great versatality. End result is a printable classic.
Perhaps a bit more notes on how the use each component would be beneficial.

Comments about Nik Software Complete Collection Software Plug-in for Lightroom and Aperture:
Using Nik software plugins in Lightroom is no walk in the park. I seriously question myself why I bother with the aggravation when a skilled hand with Lightroom can achieve more natural-looking results. Nik plugins often crash, regularly ask for the key codes to be re-entered and will not function until checking for updates, even though the software is up-to-date. I find that Nik plugins are time-consuming, deliver little value and really not worth the investment.

Comments about Nik Software Complete Collection Software Plug-in for Lightroom and Aperture:
I'm in love with Nik software. I know a lot about Lightroom 3 and Photoshop CS5 (I'm a member of the National Association of Photoshop Professionals), but the improvements I can make in my images using Silver Efex Pro 2, Viveza 2 and Color Efex Pro 4 are amazing.
The support Nik provides is superior. If the person who titled his review "Caution" had contacted Nik, he wouldn't have had any problems.
Nik produces excellent software that's worth every penny.

What is nice about this software is the different creative modes you could design from one picture. My favorite is solarization in color effects 3. How you can change a picture in vivieza from a bright sky to a dark haunting one!!!

Comments about Nik Software Complete Collection Software Plug-in for Lightroom and Aperture:
Lots to learn with this software, so its fun trying out all the capability. I love the selective control points, very intuitive and easy to use. My only gripe is that each export, whether it be to Dfine, Viveza, Color Efex, etc, creates a new TIFF file. I wish the existing TIFF could be used for the entire workflow to save time. Maybe you can, but I havent figured it out yet. But overall, I am satisfied and happy I purchased through B&H.

I'm in love with Nik Software. Silver Efex Pro 2 is the best I've found for black and white. You can do more with it than you can imagine. You'll especially like the "soft contrast" slider.
Viveza 2 and Color Efex Pro 4.0 allow you to create color images that are better than Photoshop will do -- not to mention far faster and far easier than Photoshop.
Dfine and Sharpener Pro are excellent, too.
I've tried a lot of software, but Nik beats them all. And the support is excellent.

Great softwares, but almost only use the Sharpener Pro, Viveza and Silver Efex Pro, especially for the U-Point Technology
