Comments about Jobo 250GB GIGA Vu Sonic Stand-Alone Data Storage Unit:
I purchased this unit to take along on a trip to Europe where I knew there would be countless photo opportunities, and where I knew I didn't want to drag around a bulky laptop just for backup photo storage. It worked flawlessly, loading hundreds of RAW files from the memory cards of my 21 megapixel SLR within a few short minutes, and giving me the reassurance that my photos were safely backed up. I used it each evening on the two week trip and never had a problem. It also does a good job as a photo viewer for even RAW files, but brings up the files more slowly than desired. For reviewing your photos, your camera or a laptop is a better option. I will take the GIGA Vu Sonic with me on every photo shoot from now on. As for the internal battery, I charged it once and never had to re-charge it during my two week trip. A very good product as far as I'm concerned.

I have used this for over a year now without issue as a backup device. Works fine as a viewer as well but controls are cumbersome.

Comments about Jobo 250GB GIGA Vu Sonic Stand-Alone Data Storage Unit:
I purchased the GIGA Vu Sonic by Jobo this year and have been disappointed from my opening use. I downloaded my pics from my memory card. The first time that I tried to preview them, the screen went into a split screen view and nothing is recognizable. I reviewed the operating instructions, whihc told me to restart. When that didn't work, I progressed to the 2nd option, to remove the internal battery. Neither fixed the issue. I got zero usr from my purchase! I would not recommend this item to any prospective buyer.

This unique portable hard drive is ideal for all photography and data storage. I take it all over the world and it has never failed. It copies and stores at the fastest speed and is extremely durable and well made. It has a built in screen that displays all photos in very high color resolution and it is easy to use. I find it compatible with all memory card types. It also copies and stores raw files. Great value! It will not disappoint and is well worth the price. Love my JOBO!

Comments about Jobo 250GB GIGA Vu Sonic Stand-Alone Data Storage Unit:
I've been happy with this unit but when I upgraded to OS Lion on my Mac, it won't recognize the USB port. That means that I have to copy my images back to a memory card...then to my hard drive.
When the USB connect worked it was great. Now, it's kind of a pain. Overall, I like having the ability to upload my images to a drive. Hopefully, they'll supply a firmware update. I still recommend it but for Mac use (right now) I'm hesitant.
