Comments about Samson UM1 Portable Wireless Lavalier Microphone System (Frequency N3- 644.125 MHz):

Ok, thought that this would be a good compromise between product quality and price. No. No it was not. Nor was it user error. In fairness, it was plug and play...just much of a play. I am ok with a bit of background noise, but this was ridiculous -- the level of hiss was something that could probably be fixed in post, but not at all worth it. I sent the product back and upgraded to the base level of Sennheiser [$]. Don't think twice, figure out where to get the extra money and get the Sennheiser. [...]Oh, and the Samson required AAAA batteries...good luck finding those when the old ones wear down on location. Sennheiser...AA.

Comments about Samson UM1 Portable Wireless Lavalier Microphone System (Frequency N3- 644.125 MHz):

I bought 9 of these to use in a college setting for students to use. I had to send 3 of them back because the sound quality was distorted. When ever you use them, you consistently hear a hiss and the sound level increases. We have a different and cheaper brand that sounds much better than these.I like that they can connect directly via XLR. They come in a hard plastic carrying case with a handle and padding on the inside. A GREAT bonus, seeing as students are not the greatest in returning things in their original state. NO SHOE MOUNT!!!! Seriously?? "Camera Mountable" means velcro. [...]I would not by these again. Tough to find a good wireless for this amount though...

Comments about Samson UM1 Portable Wireless Lavalier Microphone System (Frequency N3- 644.125 MHz):

These wireless lav mics were the only ones within our budget.

The cables were a little difficult to attach at first, but through wear they became easier.

They take 9V batteries, which was not something common to our office and are pricey, and the battery life was just a few hours. I was conducting interviews and every time I changed the tape (60 minutes) I had to change the batteries.

Overall, the audio sounded good. Be careful of feedback and fuzzy connections. They were very moody and sensitive if you touch the case.
