Do you know the feeling that after a long search you found what you were looking for? that's the feel with this product. I have a side bag, magnum something, good materials, it's almost 25 years old and still serves me well, but it's BIG and though it carry everything, the disadvantage is that it's size never change. I have a backpack, also LowPro, very good product, but getting things in and out means that I need to take it off, and it takes my back (generates the usual "why you take all your camera gear with you?" complaint, when others need to carry my load when I take it). Now I finally got this one, sure it's not small but smaller side bags don't fit my 7D and it's battery grip inside. The best feature with this bag is that it's MODULAR. Sometimes I need just the camera with one lens (there is enough room for a 50mm under my zoom - big, I already mentioned). Sometimes I want my wide angle, I can add one side bag, when I want to take a long lens, well I can add the other one. Having this flexibility in bag size is very important for me. Unlike fixed size bags I can make it as large or as small as I like it to be. As for other features: it's easy to get the camera in and out without the need to fully open all your stuff to the world, it does not hanging loose on one side when you need your balance, there is also some room for other things, memory card, charger etc.

And there is a bonus, to the joy of the family, I can take my camera with me, take good pictures, while they can place a full backpack with all the heavy stuff on me, having two birds at one catch.

Unfortunately, they now need to find a new topic to argue about.. :-)

I am a long time Lowepro owner. Lowepro makes for the most part great bag but their quality seems to be slipping. Although this bag will work for me it is not what I want, no-one makes one. The side bags are a little narrow and tight. The D-rings for the shoulder strap are plastic and the strap has plastic non swivel connectors. The top flap needs a pocked like the rest of the top loader bags. The front pocket although very large is not well padded.

It sat in front of me for two days and I was ready to send it back but I need this type of bag.

All-in-all, with a great deal of disappointment I will keep it and use it but I am tired of bag companies slapping bags together like this one. Also, Lowepro has changed their bag shoulder straps and it is not for the good. The old straps were shaped correctly and did not slide off your shoulder, the new ones are poorly padded and slippery, (I am glad I still have a couple old straps).

I am getting more and more dissatisfied with Lowepro and Tamrac. Other bag companies I have looked at are also poorly designed but in other areas. There must to be a good company out there some place.

Comments about Lowepro Outback 200 Modular Beltpack:

I have bags and backpacks, none of them offering both capacity, easy access and comfortable carry on a hike. I needed space for a mounted 70-200 zoom, a 24-85 and a 105 macro, plus a flash and the usual collection of SDs, color cards, etc. The backpack is great for storage, but less convenient for quickly pulling out the camera or switching lenses. An extensive search in B&H's selection, reading their reviewer comment, brought me to the Outback 200. I was just what I needed. Lightweight, modular, easy to carry. After just one hike/nature shoot I know this is the right choice.

Comments about Lowepro Outback 200 Modular Beltpack:

I needed a bag that would allow me to have access to my gear more readily than my backpack, so this bag is great for me. I would not recommend it to someone who needs a bag to store their gear in. It's nice to have a slot for my body and two slots for my lenses; however, the slot for the body is far deeper than necessary. Other than that, I recommend this bag to anyone who is constantly switching lenses and bodies around.

Comments about Lowepro Outback 200 Modular Beltpack:

It is very good to hold my Nikkor 70-200mm long lens and reduces the burden and weight added to the shoulder and neck as the weight is on the waist. However, the design is poor with the two lens holders on each side. They can only hold the smaller lenses. I cannot fit my Nikkor 24-70mm and 14-24mm lenses in either one. They are only good for a bottle of water to be carried in each, so they are absolutely useless for carrying larger and thicker lenses!

Comments about Lowepro Outback 200 Modular Beltpack:

I have been looking for a replacement for my Lands End camera back with extra (small) lens pouch for over 2 years since I wrecked mine volcano boarding in Nicaragua (thanksfully there was no lens in the pouch) and I found a recommendation online from a mountaineer about carrying gear for Kilimanjaro, he recommended this waistapack to leave your back free for yur daypack.

This pack has plenty of room and is really ewell constructed with room for a 200 f/2.8 and feels like good protection.

The belt is comfortable and highly adjustable, the added plus is the compression straps on the side pocket to keep everything nice and tight.

The whole unit is light which is a major plus as I'm planning on wearing it up Kilimanjaro in a few months so quite literally - every ounce counts.

The excellent quality I have come to expect from Lowepro continues with this model, further, the price from B+H is lower than all competitors, so thanks to them for that.

I love this product, even though I've only had it or a few days. Lowepro sure know their job. I like the fact that you can remove the 2 side pouches and wear them over your belt conveniently and independently. It's really useful for days when you have long shoots and need to carry a lot of photo gear with you. Your back is free from the burden of a backpack.

                    It really works....period!

I've been looking for a bag that would be handier for hiking. This really fits the bill! I can put my Canon 60D with a 70-300 zoom lens and hood in without having to remove the hood. Also, I don't have to put the bag down!
There is plenty of room for other lenses, filters, and other misc items and still keep the weight down. With just one motion, I can remove my camera and I won't miss that shot again fussing with the bag and lens hood! Great product, very good quality, very comfortable!

Comments about Lowepro Outback 200 Modular Beltpack:

I am a wedding photographer and I need to change lenses all the time. With this beltpack I can reach all of my lenses fast and without the concern of them falling to the floor. I can carry my 70-200, a Macro 100, and a 28-135, a camera flash, batteries, etc. and be comfortable enough to keep on working.

I bought this Bag to use in Alaska to carry my T2I W/Sigma 70-200mm F/2.8 which totals 10.7" without the X2 Adapter and 13.7" including the Hoya UV shield. There is some extra room around the camera so some Velcro fastened pads are needed to secure the set up. It fits nicely but there is no room for anything else so if your ancillary equipment (lenses, charger, etc.) won't fit in the front and side pouches, like me, you will have to have another case: which I leave on the boat.

On my first outing with this bag, I carried my D300s with battery grip and 24-70mm lens in the main compartment. The side pockets held an 80-200mm f2.8 and a 105mm micro lens, and the front pocket held my SB-900 flash, plus a few filters and cleaning supplies. I also attached a water bottle carrier and expodisk holder to the strap sewn to the front & top of the bag. That's a LOT of stuff to carry around all day, but the bag's combo of waist belt & shoulder strap distributes the weight pretty well.

As per Lowepro's norm, the bag protects the contents very well. Everything is easily accessible "on the fly", without having to go find someplace to sit down.

I have no complaints about this bag at all.

I was looking for a waist pack for some time, and finally came across this one. I prefer a waistpack because I can still put on a camelbak for hiking, and I don't have all the weight around my shoulders. I fit my D300 and 70-200 2.8 VR in the center pouch, a tc-17 and 16-35 F4 in one side pouch, my cables, shutter release, cards, in the other, and my flash in the front pouch. For the price, it is a comfortable solution for me, and I am glad I bought it.

Doing some photojournalism, it is not aways practical to take all of my gear (which is cared for in my Magnum 400) to various locations, so I then opt for the Outback 200.

This well constructed and comfortable unit easily carries my DSLR Nikon with 70-200 lens in the centre compartment, 17-35 in another and there is still one free for bits and pieces including a Speedlight (or a water bottle).

For when there is the requirement to carry and have protected the immediate gear you are using, the Outback 200 is perfect.
