THE PIGMENT IS TRULY ARCHIVAL. pRINTED ON ePSON PAPER MAKES A FINISHED SURFACE THAT IS UNSURPASSABLE IN MY OPINION. I use my Pro 3880 for prints for sale as well as my own use and found the quality to be first class. The cartridges are large and therefore expensive but I get what I consider to be a reasonable amount of printing out of them. I would not trust aftermarket ink on such a high end printer although I don't have any experience with them. I have not experienced any clogged jets so far even though the the printer sits idle for a couple of weeks at a time. I would recommend these cartridges.

Prints are gorgeous, but I gotta wonder why this stuff is gone so quickly. I used a 2200 before getting the 3880 and thought these bigger ink tanks would last a long time. I may be printing more than I realize, but they seem to go dry just as fast - and now it's $45 a pop to replace....

The Ultrachrome K3 inks are great if used with matched media (Epson). I've done extensive fading and color shift tests and they work well. The only reason I don't give the Epson pigmented inks 5 stars is the constant cleaning required which wastes ink [...]

I've recently upgraded from an Epson R2400 to the SP3880 with the K3 Vivid Inks. The print quality has visibly improved. The Vivid Magenta and Vivid Light Magenta have contributed to better blues, especially in skies. Fall foliage and "red-rock" landscapes also have better vibrance and color gradation. A much improved product. The larger cartridge is more economical and more convenient as ink changes are further apart and less wasteful.
