A UV filter is a must for most lenses to not only cut out UV but also to protect the front of the lens. It beats me why the lens manufacturers don't include one with a new lens however I'm a loyal Hoya brand user and have used their products for like 30 years. I'm also a great fan of Nikon/Nikkor and use Hoya filters all the time. This is a great filter for the price and I doubt if you'd see any difference using one 2-3x the price.

A decent filter overall, but two things I don't like about it. One, the glass sounds loose when you tap on it, thought I got a bad copy, but the 2nd one was the same. Second, the glass is really hard to clean. Rubbing in circular motion would not work-it'll only leave smudge like marks, so you'll have to rub it in other ways. Spend a little more money and get yourself a higher quality filter

Comments about Hoya 77mm Ultraviolet UV (C) Haze Multicoated Filter:

This is the second Hoya UV Haze Filter that I've purchased for my D300. It provides good protection for my lens, much cheaper than damaging an element. (In addition to the hood, which I use on most occasions.) This was the recommended brand by one of the B&H sale professionals and I trusted them to give me good advice.

Comments about Hoya 77mm Ultraviolet UV (C) Haze Multicoated Filter:

A UV filter should be absolutely mandatory for all of your lenses just for protecting the lens itself. Even used for indoor filming. It also cuts down on UV haze for all of your exterior shots.

This filter was middle of the road in pricing and has been perfect for my needs. I shoot on a DSLR 4 - 5 days per week and this filter has been durable and protective of my 77mm lens.

Hoya UV (C) filters are a good value. I am using them on all of my lenses to protect the front glass elements from moisture and dust. The price is right for a multicoated filter for hobbyist photographers like me. If I were a pro I'd probably go for the pricey B&W's or Heliopans.

Comments about Hoya 77mm Ultraviolet UV (C) Haze Multicoated Filter:

We use this product for our News Camcorders, primarily to protect lens. Very cost effective without sacrificing quality of image.

Comments about Hoya 77mm Ultraviolet UV (C) Haze Multicoated Filter:

Always used Hoya filters. A uv or haze filter is the best low cost protection you can purchase to block fingers, rocks, or moisture from hitting your external element.

Good UV filter for the buck, not really need an UV filter since most lens have UV coating already. I got it mainly to protect my lens. The quality of images stayed the same and it goes on to the lens smoothly.
