I got it about a week and a half ago, and I am absolutely enamored with this lens! I decided to go with Tamron after reading the review given on [...]comparison and it stated that this was one of his favorite lenses next to the 90mm. Beautiful clarity, I haven't had it long enough to write anything too negative about it. My only regret is that when manually zooming, I sometimes find that it's not zooming where I think it is. I think that's on me though, not the lens. I truly suggest you go to the website I've gone to to get the most in-depth review possible.

Bought as a combination portrait and macro lens. There is no focus limiting switch, so the auto focus will often run to the full macro distance, which could take a few seconds. Fortunately, you can override the focus and handle it manually, which has worked fine for me so far. The focus motor is also pretty noisy, which is unfortunate.

Comments about Tamron SP AF60mm f/2 DI II LD (IF) 1:1 Macro Lens For Minolta Maxxum & Sony Digital SLR Cameras:

I use this lens on my Sony A700, mostly for close-up shots. This lens is well constructed and produces sharp images. I found it easier to manually adjust focus while taking macro shots to prevent excessive "hunting" in auto mode. I wish it had a focus limiter switch, but for the price I am satisfied with the purchase.

Comments about Tamron SP AF60mm f/2 DI II LD (IF) 1:1 Macro Lens For Minolta Maxxum & Sony Digital SLR Cameras:

This is hardly B&H's fault, but this lens was deeply problematic when I tried to use it on a NEX-5N using the LAEA2 adapter. Basically, autofocus just did not work. It would hunt and hunt, temporarily lock and then unlock and hunt again. It did this a lot in mediocre lot and some in good light. I could not use the lens in this condition, so I sent it back. Not sure if it was a bad sample or a problem design, but beware of trying to use it on a NEX-5n. By the way, I do not think it was the LAEA2 because that adapter works spectacularly well on other lenses I own. B&H refunded my money, no hassle, so I will use B&H again.

Will be used for portrait and macro photos. Great size and weight. The 2.0 Aperture give you a little bit more light when needed and a beautiful Bookeh !
No focus lock but that's not important to me.

The lens is a perfect portrait length and aperture for aps-c sensors. The price was competitive and even better with the rebate. The macro ability is a real plus for "playing."

I wanted to get into macro and what a better way. The 60mm gives me reach that a 30mm or 50mm would not a little distance from the subject is noce in macro work. The tamron is a well built lense solid but not overly heavy. A bit slow on the focus but with the manual overide focus ring not a problem, macro is slow work most of the time. The f/2 makes this a nice and fast lense and for the price it cant be beat.

This is a well made lens and does a first rate job on my Sony cameras. Nice bokeh. I particularly like the manual focus override. I use this lens almost entirely for macro work and have no real experience with it as a "walk around" lens. Auto focus is of slow to average speed and accuracy.

Altogether I would recommend this lens to others and am pleased with my purchase.

              - On auto-focus it will focus on a very small area (within it's minimal focus range). This can also be a disadvantge if it does not focus where the photographer intended.
              - Although slow and noisy to focus, the lens is incredibly fast in terms of light. Very high speed shots obtained in aperture mode.
