The Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 DG OS Telephoto Zoom makes telephoto shooting easy for many types of photography such as sport and nature. The lens is built with Special Low Dispersion Glass (SLD) elements to provide corrections for all types of aberrations. Its super-multi-layer coating adds to the excellence of images by reducing flare and ghosting, yielding high contrast images throughout the focal range.

Sigma's OS (Optical Stabilizer) can reduce shutter speeds approximately 4 stops slower than would otherwise be possible. This lens' rounded 9-blade diaphragm creates an attractive blur for out-of-focus areas of a picture. With a minimum focusing distance of 59.1" throughout the entire zoom range and a maximum magnification ratio of 1:3.9, this zoom is a good choice for close-up imaging. The compact construction of the lens helps make it good for travel and hand-held telephoto photography.

I take this lense everywhere I go, its a great go to lense, I do all outdoor shooting and it performs well. It has great BOKEH and nice sharp images, the only thing that sets me back is that its a little slow on auto focus but no problem I still shoot sports like baseball, running, animals, ect.

I use the EOS Canon 7d with the Vello BG-C4 Battery Grip so the camera gets a little heavy, other than that its a great lense I do use a mono pod while shooting to help prevent color fringing too much camera shake will give you some color fringing, but that is with all lenses.

For the price its a good lense for everyday shooting, I also have done some Portrait phots.

I wanted a lens I could just leave on my EOS 5D Mark II and employ for most occasions. The Sigma 70-300 f/4-5.6 fits the bill. It takes clear images at low shutter speeds thanks to it's image stabilization. It feels solid and is not very heavy. It does not focus as fast as a Canon, but you make up for that in the difference in price. I'm pleased with this purchase.

Picked this lens up for my 5D Mk2. Honestly, considering the price, this lens is fantastic. Given a reasonable amount of light, you can pop off some amazing and crisp shots. AF is noisy and not incredibly fast, but the flip side is that you're not spending $2500. If you're looking for a telephoto zoom for your non-pro stuff, this will not disappoint.

Before purchasing my 70 to 300 mm lens, I compared your price to the competition and found the Sigma lens to be the deal of a lifetime. I compared the competition lens filter sizes to sigma 62 mm, I feel your lens body gave me more meat to grab on to while in manual focus. The drive motor is a little on the loud side but with my Canon T3i set in AF mode (AL SERVO) the drive motor did not skip a beat staying in focus and capturing wildlife.

Comments about Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 DG OS Lens for Canon Digital Cameras:

I am just getting into digital photography so I am a 100% amateur. I purchased this lens in January of 2014 after getting a Cannon T3 as a Christmas present. As many other reviewers have pointed out, yes this lens is heavier than the comparable Cannon model, and the auto focus is also louder; but the cost savings makes it well worth it.

The only negative point I can say about this lens so far is dealing with the frustration of having to change lenses on my camera when I want a wider angle shot, but I'm still very satisfied with my purchase.

Comments about Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 DG OS Lens for Canon Digital Cameras:

I bought this lens as a replacement for the Tamron 18-270mm. I was not satisfied with the results on the Tamron and I still needed a longer lens for when I am on vacation.
I will be using this for some wildlife and car racing from the stands.
The lens is very solid on the build, excellent feel when mounted on my 70D, it is a little noisy but that is fine with me. It locks onto the subject rather quickly.
My only beef is the lens hood that comes with the lens. It is difficult to mount and un-mount, but I will look for another one soon.

Comments about Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 DG OS Lens for Canon Digital Cameras:

I ordered this lens and the Canon 55-250 IS to compare. After reading the huge amounts of reviews on the 55-250 here and on @ I had pretty much convinced myself that I'd keep that one and send this one back. This one has fewer reviews and they are 3-4 stars rather than the 4-5's the 55-250 was getting.Well, the lenses arrived and I was amazed at the clarity of this lens. There was no comparison. I asked several family members to choose which picture they liked best and this one won every time with no hesitation. Needless to say, the 55-250 went back instead. So why the disparity in reviews vs. performance? I can only think that it must be that the 55-250 was being compared to the canon 75-300 (no IS and the bottom rung of the lenses) and maybe the Sigma was being compared (in people's minds anyways) to the nicer lenses, like the Canon 70-300 - which I would love to have by the way but can't afford! :)BH Photo sent this right out, had the best price and was in all other ways, great! I highly recommend both them and this product!

I purchased this because I desperatley needed a zoom lens for a wedding production. The price point is awesome for this lens. Auto focus is fast. Image stabilization (OS) is good; lots of swaying/delayed movement when you are zoomed in tight and trying to pan or adjust a bit but that's what it is suppose to do. I wish the lens was a bit faster (f/4-5.6) but it still has beautiful bokeh and worked well at my outdoor wedding. Hopefully it will be fast enough in low-light conditions without having to turn up ISO to much. I would buy again and again.

I was a bit skeptical about the quality of this lens because of the price, but it turned out being excellent. I use this lens with a Canon T3i, and even though is not quite fast, it is perfect for what I needed. I mainly use this lens for outdoor photography and video of animals and sports. I know this is not the best lens there is, but if you are just starting out and want to explore more about photography this is a perfect lens to start with.

I use my Sigma 70-300mm on my canon t2i as part of my everyday take with me gear. This lens is small and powerful, the zoom power on my crop sensor is truly incredible. It cannot compete my higher end gear but, I'm always ready and have come up with some very impressive shots.

Comments about Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 DG OS Lens for Canon Digital Cameras:

I ordered this lens to replace my broken Tamron 70-300. The lens is good and the focusing speed (relative to Tamron's) is better. The weight is not too heavy and I'd say relatively suitable.
The quality and sharpness are also good relative to Tamron. However, I don't see much difference with the OS being on or off. At 300mm, the OS seems of no use almost.

Customer service rep, Kirk R recommended this lens for my concert photography. I was on a budget and needed something quick. It was fast, pretty good with low light and worked well with my Canon 6D. This was my first non-Canon lens & my photos turned out great.

I purchased it for my Canon 6D. Yes this lens is cheap. However I think it should be good ennough for my purpose of photoing some wild animals occasionaly. I have tried it for one day. It is small, light, focusing fast and accurate. I don't think I will ever regret with this purchase.

Comments about Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 DG OS Lens for Canon Digital Cameras:

Bought this lens in the store in Manhattan, put it on my Canon EOS Rebel T3, and started taking photos. Easy to use. Great looking photos! Love it! The sales person was awesome and helped me decide on this being the best lens for me (as somewhat of a beginner). And for the price, it is amazing!

I am very satisfied with my new lens. For the price, you can't beat it. I take a lot of nature photography and this lens is great. I have been shooting loons all week and the lens is performing as I expected.
